View Full Version : Staying in Devon for the tour

After meeting a couple of girls from Devon on my hols, I've given the tour an extra bit of thought. Thing is I have yet to do any sort of scouting around for accomodation yet - can anyone confirm if I'll be wasting my time ringing around, or are there still a fair few places available?

I've been scouting around online this weekend, and I don't think you'll have any trouble at all. There are literally hundreds of hotels in Exeter and Torquay alone, and most I've canvassed seem to have some availabilty. God Bless poorly cloven animals, that's what I say.

Leaning towards Exeter myself - any others staying there or thereabouts, or is everyone doing the Torquay thing? Just don't fancy screaming kids, donkey rides, deckchairs, knotted hankies and kiss me quick hats...

Changed my mind. After extensive research, I have settled on the Cavendish Hotel, Torquay.

www.4hotels.co.uk/uk/hotels/cavendis.html

Bar, restaurant, games room, sauna, solarium, gym, indoor & outdoor pools. Plenty of rooms available starting from 199 per person per week for B&B w/ensuite.

You listening, 917? Answer your mobile when it rings!

I went for the large twin @220 per person per week, for B&B. (Don't worry, 917, your share is 200). Could've had a standard twin for 199pp/pw, with the chance of a 3 upgrade on arrival.

Trying to give the impression I'm tight or something?

Not at all - just sticking to the price I quoted you yesterday. And I have a secret funding source....You can, of course, buy the first round.;)

If you scroll down to the bottom of the cavendish web page - you can get a list of other hotels/ b&b's/apartments available. Shame the palace hotel is one of the most expensive!

Why not try the Mount Edgcombe Hotel in Torquay (tel: 01803-292310) - B&B is only 21 per night!

Forgive me for being a thicko here guys - but aren't B&B's more 'funny' (can't think of another word, sorry) about you getting in late than hotels ? I'm planning a bit of a session after the Torquay game and don't need some old nag having a go and kicking me out.

Ashes Edgbaston regretably would love to have been there. It will take me months to ascertain the juicy gossip.

Just rang and it's fully booked. I've also rung around a couple of other places and they're reluctant to take single sex parties. - Try the Cavendish?

I'm afraid I'm not interested in any single sex parties, either.

Book a double. It costs slightly more but worth it :D

Wasn't quite what I meant but can see where you are coming from :D

Seriously if you book a double they do not consider that you will be a single sex guest, they assume husband/wife etc. The extra 5 or so is a good investment.

booked an apartment (well Lion tamer did) cost 150 for 5 people, for 3 nights although we got a discount in the process, worked out quite well really.

Which idiot let you lot have their appartment for three days.
