Since this a help thread i need help. Can you get a number 51 bus from Beckenham to near Selhurst? Probably deserves a head banging but i could really do with some help here from anyone that knows.
Thanks guys.

In fact, no buses run directly to Selhurst from Beckenham at all...
One way of doing it would be a 354 to Robin Hood Pub, then any of the buses ('cept a 356) that go towards Croydon on Croydon Road.
If you only want to pay one fare, get a tram to Harrington Road and you have a 20/25 min walk to the ground.

Beckenham Junction to Palace by bus
Best bet is a bus to Penge (194 or 227) then the 75 from there along Selhurst Road
Alternative is Tramlink from Beckenham Junction to Woodside and 20 minute walk (I think) via Tennison Road railway bridge to Holmesdale Road/Park Road end of ground

The Tennison road railway bridge is quite long - best head down birchanger road and wound the back of Norwood Junction station - takes me 30 mins from my house (Woodside) to SP

Oh well i'll just go 119 to Croydon then 468.
Thanks again, bar Baldy:grrr: :hi:

119 Bromley Hayes West Wickham Shirley Croydon Croydon Airport
You'd have to get a train from Beck Jn to Bromley to pick it up!
PS Only walked once from Woodside to SP and I'm not saying how long ago that was Neil! - Sorry on miscalculation

You can get more than the 468 from Croydon, 157/410/75 will all take you to NJ and Selhurst. The 410 goes up near Park Road.
I walk to Croydon to the Selhurst, well the pub to be more accurate, only takes about 15 mins.

Should be in "Memory Lane" I know, but you used to be able to get the 119 all the way to Thornton Heath High Street! "Them woz the days!!".
I'm not really sure, but I think it's been replaced by the 198, which does a very similar job.

Doesn't the 410 go from West Wickham to Crystal Palace. Or something liek that?

I've been exiled from Croydon for over 25 years and this is a real memory lane thread for me.
Did the 194B also run to Fort Neaf?
Do the 166 and 194B still run through Shirley to Croydon?

I've walked (many years ago) from my Nan's house on Long Lane, near the Fire Station at Woodside Green, and I have to agree it was a frigging long way to walk, especially the walk home in the cold or wet.
Can you still get a train from Beckenham Junction to Crystal Palace and from there to Norwood Junction?

194B is a deceased bus route but the good old 194 runs:
Lower Sydenham Savacentre - Sydenham - Newlands Park - Penge - Beckenham War Memorial - Elmers End - Eden Park - West Wickham - Shrublands Bridle Road - Shirley Way - Shirley - Croydon
And the 166?
Epsom General Hospital - Epsom Downs - Banstead - Woodmansterne - Chipstead Valley - Coulsdon - Purley - Croydon
No late evening or Sunday service Epsom - Banstead.
Buses are diverted indefinitely non-stop via Croydon Lane and Carshalton Road, instead of Woodmansterne Lane, between Banstead and Woodmansterne.
Anorak please nurse:o

Im thinking of a bus that goes to Penge, not Palace. :bash:
You then get the 75 after.

Second anorak spot:
Travelling from New Addington to Selhurst park in my youth we would get off the 130 bus at Shirley Park Hotel, walk down Shirley Road, then Pagehurst Road, over the railway bridge, through Woodside and up that long dark alleyway once known as Dickenson's Lane (seriously spooky at night) thus reaching Tennison Road. No idea how long it took; seemed an age coming home when we'd lost.

I've got the 119 to Sandilands and walked up Morland Road to Davidson Road and over the Tennison Bridge. Now THAT'S a long way!
