Good players who became proper sh1te once we signed them.

The two that stand out for me are Welsh International and Kevin Keegan lookalike David Giles who was absolutely brilliant at Selhurst playing for Swansea in a 3-3 Cup match, and who generally had been getting good reviews for a season or two,.......until we bought him. Absolutely sh1te from then on in.

And Mike Flanagan...even worse because he was bloody expensive.

We had a number of players in the early 80s who'd played in the first team for clubs like Chelsea and Arsenal, but is was completely unclear how they'd managed this when you saw them in action for us.

Alex Dyer was a world beater until he joined us.

Marco Gabbiadini effectively destroyed his top flight career by joining us.

Neil Ruddock added a footnote of lazy, overweight shite to his previously illustrious career with his 'efforts' for CPFC.

First name that came into my head when I read the thread title, was David Giles :)

For some reason I thought David Price was a good buy until I saw him play !

I remember back in the 90s when we signed Itzhak Zohar, Ray Lewington saying he was a great player. Still he did leave us with a lasting memory

Ivan Kaviedes.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uO_RVAVaY6I - notice the number 3 here, did he understand the meaning of the pass?

Was very pleased when we signed him as he was great on Championship Manager, and was regarded as a 'Dead Ball specialist' but then hardly featured and wasnt special when he did.

Nicky Carle.

Was going to say Padovano, but I'm not sure he was very good in the first place..

Hardly his fault he got injured. He actually looked very good until that point. Urban myth that he was crap. He never had a chance.

Bit unfair as he would probably still do a job at Championship level

If this was a great player until they got a contract offer, who was the one we got from Derby, looked brilliant, signed on dotted line and looked Sunday league? Was it Reich or am I a deluded drunk....

gold76 03-11-2017 11:35 AM

Reich, had a worldie against the queenies in a telly game, signed him and then faded away into mediocrity..

He did have zero service.... a common trend with Pardew teams.
