BBS subscriptions

There is now a way to be a BBS Angel direct from within the forums

http://forums.cpfc.org/payments.php

The cost is 3 per month and the money goes towards paying for BBS hosting.

Subs are entirely optional and nothing will happen if you don't take out a sub.

However if you do take out a sub via this method then you get a few little extras, like tons of PM space.

Please post any questions / concerns here.

Anyone who has a standing order and wants the little extras as above PM me.

Just reading the title i thought this was going to be about replacing some of the older, struggling posters with fresh young talent.

Ps i will sort out payiing my subs tomorrow.

Just a quick note from the Treasurer ...

We have a decent balance in the BBS account, thanks to our regular contributors, but since the purchase of the new Server and the VBulletin upgrade, we are now spending quite a bit more each month than we collect. In the past, we have been able to catch up by launching appeals - or funding enterprises - but we probably need to do a bit more now to ensure the continued success of the BBS.

I would guess that most of us do not want to see Advertising on the BBS, and for Registered Users the BBS should remain Advertisement-free (although Guests may see the odd Advert when they visit us).

I also believe that the majority of us want to see the BBS remain as a free service, with contributions entirely voluntary. I don't see this suggestion as creating different classes of members. Instead, it is a recognition of the huge help that a few members provide - and giving them a few minor extras ... such as a larger PM capacity and perhaps bigger avatars etc.

Obviously these additional benefits will be available to existing helpers - so if you are a regular contributor and would like to be included, please send a PM to Dave or to me and it will be sorted out as and when the scheme gets going.

... and of course new contributions are very welcome, so please do consider making a regular contribution to the BBS, Regular monthly payments are preferred, because this allows us to budget more easily as we know roughly how much we will be receiving each month - but one-off payments are also welcome.

3 is the suggested, regular, payment - but we do have a number of Members who contribute more than this - so please do not be dissuaded from making a larger payment if you can afford it (and if you feel you want to help out).

Thanks again to all those who are helping, or who are considering doing so.

Well, I think that was his name. But I might have dreamt it.

Does this mean that James is behind on his subs? I pray that his pension fund recovers enough so that one day he can buy an even bigger satellite dish.

Or does it mean that he's just too modest to advertise the fact that he contributes? A reverse Matov, if you like.

So if we start up this 3 a month thing we can PM you and get the 'extras'

seems like a fair deal to me.

Oddjob 12-10-2008 01:25 PM

If I pay 4 a month will you ban WCB?

It's automatic, no need to PM

se1eagle 12-10-2008 01:36 PM

I must say I think its jolly decent of you guys to take such a non-profit view of the BBS. It could be making an absolute ton of money but then it would suck. Respect! :)

Justin 12-10-2008 01:37 PM

Would you prefer a monthly direct deb rather than an annual one off?

Don't care about the extras mind.

Oi!
I'll donate if we can ban nathe!

I prefer to do a one off. How can I do this without you guys incurring a currency exchange fee/loss?

Thanks for this website. It's a god send to expats like me:p

The link from Dave gives the monthly option, but like mrgins I would rather do lump sum.

There used to be a link to Paypal I believe. Is that still around somewhere... I've not been able to find it after a quick search.

The best way is to make a PayPal payment as a 'gift' In that way, no fees are charged.

Payments should be made to: contributions@cpfc.org

You may, of course, still contribute via the Bank Account as before. If you want to set up a Standing Order, please Click Here. You may also make single payments into the Account. If you do make a payment to the Bank, please send me or Dave a PM, so we can look out for it and identify you as the contributor.
