Things that don't happen anymore

Do you ever find yourself suddenly recalling things that were once a part of our everyday lives but don't exist anymore? You know, like the classic white dog poo... (I'm fully aware this is very mumsnet btw but what the hell...it's the international weekend :S: )

Crosslines on the phone: had great comedy potential when it did happen.

Music charts...two things you knew as a kid at any given time: who was top of the league and who was No.1

Whistling workmen

Newspapers delivered to your door

Milk floats

Reading old woman's mags or readers digest in the Dr's waiting room

Losing your friend/parent/partner whilst out at the shops

Broken down cars at the roadside with the bonnet open and clouds of steam coming out

Making mixed tapes

Photo albums

Using a phone booth...oh how I miss that smell of stale pee

Penny for the guy...unwashed kids wheeling a guy about

Heavy breathers on the phone - what was that all about! :D

Charity boxes of a blind child with a stick

Ugly musicians

Anymore?

Or the insurance man collecting payments at the door signing your little policy payment book.

Having pull out the choke button on the car at this time of year and then nurse it along slowly easing it back in while driving along... The joy as the car warmed up and started to drive normally.

Going to Blockbusters to rent a video.

Going to the cinema and it being pitch black inside. When you came out the back at the end and stepped into the car park/high street your eyes would burn from the daylight.

Having an Argos catalogue permanently in your magazine rack.

Losing your mate on a night out and just having to carry on drinking alone or hooking up with a new group of people instead of just texting him to find out where he is.

Putting string up at Christmas to hang the Christmas cards.

Waking up with a start to the television emitting that long eerie tone once it had finished for the night.

Waiting for the TV to warm up before the picture appeared
Having it eventually appear. In black and white
Getting up and walking over to the TV to change channel
Having to constantly twiddle the channel knob to tweak the tuning
Banging the top of the TV to stop the picture 'rolling'
