True Geordie: Alan Shearer

Whatever your opinion about the True Geordie or Alan Shearer, this is a brilliant watch. Two hours long, but worth every minute.

Yes, I liked Alan Shearer and think he is one of the best strikers this country has ever had.

How's your fictitious son and how is the baby milk empire faring?

l would rather listen to Kermode and Mayo, who I hate listening too (each okay on their own but there double act annoys the hell out of me) than these two.

Joe85 10-10-2017 10:58 PM

Geordie is a fat mug.

Shearer is a spam headed ****.

Purepalace 10-10-2017 10:59 PM

Shearer clearly states that Mike Ashley should hand over the club and let someone else have a go.

He is not his biggest fan by any means.

Mike Ashley is a crook.

God that's a hard call. The smug luvvy c*ntery of Kermode and Mayo, or that bellowing twat and his overrated hero. Difficult.

For the most part he comes across quite well...

If Ron had stumped up another 500k, he'd be a Palace hero

500k was a lot of dough back then. Maybe we simply couldn't afford it. Easy to say in hindsight, but at the time we had a valuation and they exceeded it.

Was there ever any truth in the story that we were offered a young Andy Cole as part of the Wright deal??

We spent £500k on Paul Mortimer 17 days after we bought Wright's replacement, Gabbiadini. And then made a £800k loss in four months on Gabbiadini. :sob:

Obviously in hindsight it was major error. But at the time they wanted record transfer for someone who didn't actually have that great a record. Can totally see why we didn't buy him.

We were but Ron wanted more money rather than the player.

I think so. But again he was young and had done nothing so replacing Wright with a kid would not have been preferable.

That's said another huge error :)

Paul Mortimer. Literally one of the worst players I have ever seen play for Palace. So so bad. Take out his goal against Manchester United and I fail to remember one thing he actually did for us.

I quite liked Gabbiadini but he wasn't a good fit with our team and style of play. He was always on a hiding to nothing following in Wright's footsteps.

In 158 appearances he scored 43 goals at Southampton, before he went to Blackburn (The team that DID pay the extra)....not too shoddy and his reputation was growing all the time. It was tight arsed management, nothing more and nothing less.

PeterH 13-10-2017 09:17 PM

There is a good chance that he may have not wanted to come to Palace.

I wouldn't historically create a myth that him not being a Palace player was just down to Uncle Ronnie being a bit tight.
