Season Preview & Hy Money
Listen again: https://www.acast.com/holmesdaleradi...oney-?autoplay

Chris Jel and Nick Philpot kick the season off with a preview of what they think could happen, what players we still need to buy and going over what has already happened since the season ended.

Following on from this, Hy Money chats to Nick and Jel and has some great stories to tell!

If you haven't checked out the Hy Money interview it is well worth a listen. I was shocked by some of the stories she shared of her treatment in the world of football and journalism in years gone by.

Anyone who enjoys a bit of Palace history will really enjoy it, plus you get to hear Jel putting on his "Posh voice" for Hy!

The show is good but I don't know why you keep saying Bournemouth have failed FFP, they haven't and by some distance.

Thanks. Hy was very candid. I learned a few things about the club.

Great show. When you guys said that Pulis was classless I can't have been the only listener that muttered 'yeah, and homeless'

Great interview, although I was disappointed to hear that she is still not being treated well by the Club. Hopefully that has been resolved since the interview.

Just found the time to listen to this....took me back to the early days. Hy was part of it and with all respect a stunningly attractive lady. No mention of the tight striped trousers was an error in the interview.....
Seriously the photos she took are iconic and part of the history of this club, and simply put she is a legend in the same way as others who may not have played for us but were part of what going to Palace was about. Joyce the Voice, Siddo etc.
Also interesting hearing the battle she had as a woman in a mans world in the 70's. Thanks to the lads on Holmesdale Radio an hour well spent that took me back made me smile and stirred some great memories.

Why were the club barring her from attending? I dont know the background on that and it was alluded to a few times, understand it was under SJ but not necessarily his fault, but someone still at the club, I can only think of one person that is still there (at a senior level)

I wondered the same thing. They mentioned but didnt go into detail. Would have been before my time, but if you were around it would be common knowledge?

Great interview. :lux:

Yes really was. When she talked about the first time she went to Palace it made my hair stand on end a little, because it reminded me of being a 5 year old and being taken to Selhurst for the first time too. It really was an explosion of the senses.

Some great stories and so sad to hear of the male chauvinism in the journalistic world. I know you can't tar a whole industry with the same brush, but I remember standing around outside Croydon Magistrates during Cantona's trial, and just watching and listening to the photographers huddled around outside, and couldn't believe what a bunch of half witted souless f**ks most of them were.

Especially liked Hy's story about Clough and Venables. Guessing it was that famous televised game in '79 when we beat Forest 1-0. I loved Cloughie, but some of the things he said have aged about as well as The Benny Hill show.

"I was working at Palace during one game, wearing my orange photographer's bib, when Brian Clough shouted out: 'Hey, you, Four Eyes! Get off the pitch!'

"I pointed to my official bib, but he said a football pitch was 'no place for a woman'. He called a steward and told him: 'Get rid of her.' Terry Venables was in Palace's dug-out and asked what all the commotion was about. Terry told me to stay where I was. Clough said to Terry: 'Oooh, it's like that, is it?' I think it was because his team was losing. He was using a lot of foul language.

Re Hambling's Ramblings and the moany twat sat next to him versus Schalke. In my experience the Holmesdale Upper is by far the most negative area of the ground. Thank fvck for the view.

As soon as I sat down and saw the view I couldnt work out why I tolerated the view I have at the back of the Arthur. That guy answered that question within minutes of him arriving!

I really enjoy Holmesdale radio.
No offence to the main presenter but it's only worth listening to when Jel and Nick Gussett are on.
Patrick's not bad either.

Absolute nonsense - wouldn't bother tuning in if Hambo wasn't involved.
