Foreign BBS'ers Suggest Foreign Players Suggestion Thread
Thought it would be a good idea for foreign BBS'ers to have a catch-all thread for suggestions of players from their home countries. So, if Buzzard of Oz sees a guy play in some game in the A-League, he could come on here and suggest him instead of starting a new thread. So, in going first I thought I would suggest a Norwegian player. :o
Mikkel Morgenstar Pålssønn Diskerud
The jersey sales alone would increase club shop revenues by 238%. Just kidding, Mikkel Diskerud is a 20 year old midfielder who plays for Stabæk in the Norwegian top division. He's half American and half Norwegian and has played for youth teams for both countries. In 2009, he told the Norwegian FA to kick rocks and committed to the US National Team. He's had 2 caps so far for the full US National team, including assisting on the winning goal against South Africa last year as a 19 year old.
He can play any position in the midfield but is generally best in the center of the midfield, sometimes advancing just behind the strikers. What has impressed me in watching him in the US youth setup and for the full NT is his calm demeanor. He seems very confident on the ball and doesn't get flustered as you would expect for a young guy. He has 74 appearances in the last 3 seasons at Stabæk. He's started all 26 games for Stabæk this year in Cup and League, and gone the full 90 minutes in 25 of those. It's very possible that he's being tracked some big time clubs now as I see him in the future as a more skillful, more offensive minded Michael Bradley. I assume that our Norwegian brothers can offer up some opinions. Hopefully not that I'm a moron.
