For those too young to appreciate real live music played in living-room sized auditoriums for the price of a couple of pints of beer, not a couple of mortgage instalments on a Barratts Shoe-box Home, the good Doctor was THE Voice of great excitement, raw energy and pure musical throbbing ooomph in the Disco-dominated 1970s.

They weren't no precursor to punk - they were head and shoulders above that scrotty little worthless rebellion.
