It's funny because he did F all last year, and now he's another year older!

Won't get too excited until he puts pen to paper... looks promising though. Albion boss Gus Poyet has given the clearest indication yet that Vicente is about to commit his future to the Seagulls. The Spanish star has yet to sign a contract and the finer details of a deal still have to be thrashed out but Poyet believes it is "90 or 95 per cent" certain he will be returning to The Amex. Poyet told The Argus: "I think Vicente will stay. What we are trying to do is sort out a few little things that will make sure he is staying with us in a better and happier situation with us but I think it will happen at any time. "We are just trying to sort it out. We cannot confirm if he is going to stay or not because that's not fair. We cannot do something that isn't done but I would say it is a big chance, 90 per cent or 95 per cent that he will stay." Poyet also revealed Albion are "very close to another two signings that will help him as well."

Lets see if he can stay off the treatment table for any length of time eh?

I guess this is a risk worth taking ... and the only reason we could possibly get him. I know it's programmed into you lot to take the piss but for those few games he played in (that we ironically didn't do too well in) he looked INCREDIBLE. So far above anything else we have it was ridiculous... I think if he can stay fit for say 30 games next season it'll be superb.

The finer details being a couple of 0's no doubt.
Gambling with their existance. Would rather have prudent owners than a man we know is prepared to go all-in. |

Looking at NSC apparently they won more games without him anyway. Not sure why his staying is such a big deal if that's the case? Furk raves about him but I've never really seen him to comment.

Owners quoted on your forum as losing £4m a year and yet still splashing out £400000 for Ward... mmmm.

Im not taking the piss i was stating a fact. As you said the FEW games he played in last season he was very good. The risk for Bloom is that he will be paying top money in wages for a potential half a dozen games a season player. Obviously as you say again he feels its a risk worth taking........

How much did you lose last year? They have a budget and are working in a cycle of a few years, we may make some losses but will balance the books every now and then - we know that. Some of the losses were expected from the purchase of the club, long term ST holders etc etc. We will be on a stabel financial footing in the next year or so i am sure - yourselves? |

He is on a completely different level skill and vision wise to the rest of the team, quite simply the man, when fit, is I would think more than capable of playing in the top division of any European League. Maybe that's why we don't seem to do well with him. Why he's at Brighton god only knows, it can't be for the money, we like you have a wage cap although as there was no transfer fee that may have been "bent" a little.

Amrose has scored a better goal than that every season that he has played for us. 09/10 Vs. Villa FA Cup 10/11 Vs. Sheff Utd League 11/12 Vs. Man U Cup Yet we don't go on and on about his wonderful exploits because we realise that if he really was world class he'd be playing at a higher level than this. Still, the weeds aren't particularly renowned for 'perspective' are they? |

So tranlsating that via 'Captain Sub-text': Albion boss Gus Poyet has given the clearest indication yet that Vicente is about to sign on for a bit longer with the Seagulls. The Spanish star has yet to sign a contract and the finer details of a deal still have to be thrashed out but Poyet believes it is "90 or 95 per cent" certain he will be returning to The Amex. Poyet told The Argus: "I think Vicente will stay. What we are trying to do is sort out a few little things that will make sure he is staying with us in a better and happier situation with us - such as a much bigger salary each week, a bonus for every week that he is not in the physios room and an anti-embarrasment payment which means when his former Champions League winning comrades catch up with him and laugh at how the 'mighty have fallen' he will be comforted by some money from Mr. Bloom's personal account. I think it will happen at any time". "We are just trying to sort it out. We cannot confirm if he is going to stay or not because that's not fair - and if a better team come along offering him even a sniff of playing a better standard of football or at a bigger club than Brighton he will of course go - as will I if the right job offer came along - I cannot blame him for this. We cannot do something that isn't done but I would say it is a big chance, 90 per cent or 95 per cent that he will stay." Poyet also revealed Albion are "very close to another two signings that will help him as well, and provide more has-beens with the chance of sitting on the sidelines for more than half the season and pick up big wages. I think this will help the fans who have very big inferiority complexes provide some arguments as to why BHA are now a massive club when their fans get found out as having no real arguments on rivals message board forums." Glad we cleared that up Gus. A simple "no comment" on the Vicente contract situation would have done nicely, but we all know he can't keep his mouth shut. Oh, silly me - I forgot, it is the journalists that always put words into his mouth and ask him the 'difficult' questions. ![]() |
