Finished my first season in charge of Sutton United in 3rd place, losing the play-off final to Eastleigh. Signed Jamil Adam and Pablo Counago up front who scored 18 in 43 and 18 in 32 respectively. |

After returning to Sutton I decided my team wasn't "Sutton enough" for me, so sold half the players even though most were about 27 and reaching their peak, bought in a load of youth that blended as a team and now going to really go for the title after finishing just outside the Europa League spots last season.

For me, Jamil Adam scored tonnes all the way up and until the Championship and got 15 then (though I did go up the leagues quick). Out of interest, what's your team? |

That said, on previous games I've usually struggled (probably because I've been Palace who are underrated) to get tactics that work and so look at others for advice, although it is a lot less fun. There are few worse feelings on FM than your team being dreadful even though you are using a tactic that you know works from real life, though. |

Any advice on fitness/ stamina.
I´m a fairly casual player so haven't read any of this thread. BUt basically every season I start well but after xmas my team seem to really struggle in the second half of games and concede so many lateish goals, regularly throwing away leads) Any idea what I am doing wrong? I try to rest players for games when they seem to need it during the season. Any advice? |

What condition do you want a player to be before you play them? I don't like starting anyone less than about 93-4%. However when the fixture pileups occur, it results in some ridiculous squad rotation.
Anyway - 4th season in change of Palace. I'm top of the Prem, through to the knock out stages of the CL having beaten Real Madrid 3-2 away from home. Team is roughly ------------------Smithies Clyne ----D. Luiz-------Piscu (Millwall)--Parr --------------------Jedi ---Van der Vaart--N.Alves(Inter) - Williams/Nick Powell -------Neymar (on a free!) - Pedroza Subs from Speroni Marrow McFadden (free) Rhodes (£3m) R. Lambert (£1.7m) Gardner A. Judge (Notts County swap for Easter) Zaha Scannell Aurelio (free) A. Williams (Swansea) Barry (700k) J Park (free) Last edited by EagleSE24 : 03-07-2012 at 01:58 PM. |

Yeah what I tend to do is go on all the training schedules (defenders, midfielders and forwards plus any others you created) and over the course of the season, every 8 weeks or so, tone down the intensity of the training. I generally end the season with my players all training at around 1 click above 'light' on the slider - basically the lowest 'medium' setting possible. Also, before the season starts, between mid July to end of August then put all your players on intensive conditional training schedules. Obviously rotate your players when you can and if you plan on giving them a week off then tell them that you're planning on resting them, almost every time they'll be positive about it and it's such a straight forward morale boost for the player that it will be really helpful in the long run, although don't it too often because they'll get annoyed at not playing. This is what I do and I very rarely have an unsuccessful season. ![]()

I rag the shit out of my players training-wise. From Feb onwards though I'll give them the odd day off, that's all. I've got 'heavy' routines for: GK FB CB DM CM AM Wingers ST Fitness (for pre-season). Then I have 'lite' versions for each other than Fitness; which is virtually identical in make up, but only 'medium' for the whinging little bitches who moan about their heavy training routines. Seems to work for me too, the youngsters improve very quickly.
