Dont mind Arsenal personally. Every year Wenger loses a top name and doesn't replace them with the same quality. But he still manages a top 4 finish year in year out. Much prefer them to chelsea and spurs.

For us older fans I find all of this quite funny. For years Arsenal were a massive club and would rob other teams of any decent player ie Wright. Now they have fallen so far behind Man city, Man U and Chelski, they cant compete and it drives their fans mad. They hate Chelski for no reason from what I can work out other than jealously and really most of them are a very sad, post premshit supporting bunch of muppets.

I am not sure what you mean by that.

Palace were not robbed of Ian Wright. Arsenal paid £2.5m for him, which I think was the second highest ever transfer fee paid by a British club the time (Liverpool had bought Dean Saunders for £2.9m just before then IIRC). Also it is not as if Wright was not happy to join Arsenal.

As for them being a massive club for older fans. Arsenal only really became a consistent top 3 side when Sky started. Before then they tended to finish in the top 10, but normally not in the top few places - other than I recall them winning in 88/89 and 90/91, but if Nick Hornby is to be believed then they hadn't won the league for 18 years prior to that.

So if you can remember when they were a massive club and won consistently, then you must be very old indeed as you can remember the Herbert Chapman days in the 1930s.

What I meant was a bug club in fan base and history. I understand what you are saying about wright, my own feelings of what he did when he was there and how much they paid for him colours my judgment I think
