Deserved winner

Didn't watch the show though. First time for many many years. Just typical BBC cringeworthy sycophantic bullshit

It's all opinion but I'd much rather have seen someone like Farrah or Trott win it.

I enjoyed it and don't get put off by the word "personality" they've adopted to use for it. It's a celebration of British sport achievement. There was one cringy moment. The Icelandic chant. But the rest of the Award ceremony was a nice recap of a great year of Sport. Happy for Leicester and Murray.

Murray is a deserving winner. Not sure about Brownlea and Skelton getting the minor places. I can only assume that they won the "emotional votes"

Thoroughly deserved, Murray's third time win. Brownlea also deserved his runners up spot, such a consistant Olympic Champion in a demanding sport.

Thing is though.. Farah did double what Alastair Brownlee did.. as well as remaining unbeaten for six years. He should have been top 3.

Froome being omitted entirely was scandalous too.

Felt sorry for the likes of Trott, Whitlock and Peaty who were astonishing in their own right.

Probably the biggest upset in many years with Mo winning.

Not sure who AJ has pissed off, was 1.15 fav and didn't even come top 3. Personally think he was robbed.

About sums up the award that it was given to someone with so much controversy surrounding him. And people have the cheek to lay into Froome.

All very odd - I thought both AJ and Hamilton had to be in the top 3 if it is based on sporting achievements. Athletics is a weird sport - every one seems to accept that Mo Farah's coach is a complete wrong un, but no one ever questions Farah! Think the guy who came third got it based on his Strictly appearances! Mo Farah should have got the lifetime achievement award instead (as he did actually retire this year) instead of that girl.

I can't stand Hamilton or F1 so personally glad that he wasn't even in the top 3.

Think it is such a short window for voting that anything can happen.

I have cheered for Mo to win purely as he is British but have so many doubts about him...

Hamilton got a better award. £3.3m tax successfully avoided and he's chuffed about it. Tosser.

It has never been about Personality as Steve Davis won it once!

Wanted Adam Peaty to win it to be honest, he is dominant at Breaststroke, however the counter argument has to be that he isn't an 'all rounder' swimmer in all strokes like Spitz or Thorpe

Hard for the general public to get behind a boxer en-masse when the biggest fights are on pay per view, so most of the public don't get to see them. Was different in the days of Henry Cooper or Frank Bruno

I agree with your last paragraph, but it's all about people bothering to vote at the end of the day. That explains Jonathan Rea coming second surely ?

There was a bit of a campaign in the Racing Post the year that AP McCoy won it (maybe the racing community all had a bet on it happening as well, so had a vested interest in him winning!) so one of the 'lesser' sports can win it too (see also Torvill and Dean!) if they have a special place in the publics hearts.

Farah will probably be the person that the British public remember most from London 2012, so he will always be highly ranked in people's minds.

I must admit I'd never heard of Jonathan Rea the motorcyclist!
