Worst Away Game You've Ever Been To.

It should be Anfield and the 9 nil (still got the ticket stub) but I'd have to say Barnsley on a Sunday (I think it was a Sunday).
The loudest speakers you could imagine blaring out 'waiting for a star to fall' by some wankers.
Taking the piss out of the ref before the match, George Courtney iirc.
And losing 1-0.
There are so many others probably worse than these no doubt.
Yours?

Hard to define worst... Scariest was away to Leeds FA Cup 1976 closely followed by Sunderland away in FA Cup 1976... on the other hand we won both, so a bit confused. Some would at Chelsea away in the FA Cup 1976, but we were off to the side so away from the shit.

As for performance on the field - there were so many!

9-0 was worst result wise but you had to be there to fully appreciate the 4-3 imo, and it wasn't too bad a trip due to the phernominal vocal away support .
Worst for me was probably Hartlepool away in fa cup or Sunderland away think we lost and it was on the box iircc.

The Nigel Martyn love in made the local radio after the game apparently as it impressed the blue 1/2 of Merseyside .was a bad trip also as we took a mini bus up and the lad who drove it did a good job till he got blazey and hit some heavy gates of the car park we used causing fair bit of damage and don't think we took insurance for that kinda thing. Expensive lesson learned.

Worst Away Game You've Ever Been To.

The league cup semi at Anfield (0-5) was a poor one. Not helped by my coach breaking down on the way and arriving at one nil down. Then realising that you couldn't even get a beer in there.

The game was bad, but atmosphere from palace was good.

Worst for me must be Cambridge in the far cup. Lost two nil. Rained all night.
Probably worst I have seen us play and that is saying something.

Charlton away when we beat them one nil thanks to KG goal and Sunderland away playoff final win. Results were great. However, after both of these games the home fans wanted to batter us and was glad to get away unscathed

Losing 5-0 away at derby under George Burley was not enjoybale.

James Vaughan was sent off, really really poor all round that day.

The Brighton 3-0 (at the time at least) remember walking out the ground thinking our amazing seasons had suffered a total collapse, we were going to struggle to make play offs whilst Brighton gaining all the momentum.

We were comprehensively outplayed when losing 3-0 at Scunthorpe under George Burley. That was quite a low point. As was the 5-0 defeat at Derby.

Still say that turned out to be the best result of the season because we all know what I did in the heads of everyone connected with that piss poor scummy pathetic side the next time we went down there.

Horrible at the time and got soaked for out troubles but a few months later and boy was it worth it

If a neutral ground counts as away, then I go for losing 2-0 to Saints in 1976 semi at Stamford Bridge. Really thought we were going to Wembley. Peach crocked Taylor and rest is history. We also had the North Stand so Saints fans under cover in the Shed were bloody noisy as they gloated.

West Brom away some time in the late 70s or early 80s. A midweek fixture which we lost 3-0. Stewards wouldn't let us on the special train at Smethwick and we got back to Euston in a mail-train at 4.00am. The only bright spot was leaning out of the window at Wembley Central and bellowing "we're the famous Crystal Palace and we're going to Wemberley...."
