Spot on. I wouldn't have booked a restricted view ticket for Liverpool, the seats are bad enough as it is without literally not being able to see the goals. Now though the club can say "Well we didn't even sell out our allocation" so next year it'll be further reduced.

Joke.

I have to say I agree - we really struggle to sell 3,000 tickets for any away game in the North West. How many games up there have we sold out/sold 3,000 tickets for in the three seasons since we survived that first season under Pulis? Man U last game last season as we thought we could get relegated. Not many (if any?) apart from that though. Some pitiful turnouts at Man City and Everton.

Man Utd last game last season we only took the 'wedge' in the corner, not the full 3000 we could have had. We didn't take the block of about 800 adjacent seats in the South Stand (which used to be the £55 ones )

Apples and Oranges. Comparing 12.30pm KO Saturday televised matches and midweek evening games with first away game of a new season,untelevised and a Saturday 3.00pm KO is wrong. Particularly as the same mistake was made 3 months earlier when a reduced allocation was taken for Liverpool away , even though we were in a middle of a relegation battle. That too sold out 10 or so days before the match.

A few good seats available online at the moment - probably returned comps.

The problem for the club is where they are offered 3 blocks of 1000 seats up North. 2 may not be quite enough but 3 is about 800 seats too many. Or at Man City and Everton, as you say, we never even take 2000.

Apart from the cost to Palace of all those unsold seats it's not fair on home fans who cant get tickets for the game because there's a near empty block of seats paid for by the away club.

We could try easing up on the ticket buying points restrictions. If one friend is in the first group, the second in a mid group and a third in the low points group you cannot buy together or book train tickets at the same time. Nor can a father, for example, take the kids if they have lower points. I accept there will be some big points fans who complain they don't get priority but that surely is the lesser of two evils if we are unlikely to sell out.

Steve, the example given above would suggest that the club would be exposed to 800 unsold tickets if that was the number left in the unsold block.

Rather than Palace facing a bill for 800 unsold ticket, I thought CPFC would only pay for 300 unsold tickets - the number it takes to reach the halfway point in the last block? (Not desirable of course). Genuine question.

Below is what I think is the official premier league ruling in regards to away allocation:

R.9. The tickets referred to in Rule R.8 shall be made available to the Visiting Club in blocks corresponding to the blocks of seating (“Seating Block”) in the area of the Home Club’s Stadium for visiting supporters, such blocks to be designated by reference to the points at which segregation of home and away supporters can occur. There shall be no maximum or minimum number of seats in a Seating Block and any question as to the size of a Seating Block or the location of a segregation point shall be determined by the Board.

R.10. The Visiting Club:
R.10.1. may order and sell tickets on a sequential Seating Block by Seating Block basis (the sequence of release of Seating Blocks to the Visiting Club to be determined by the
Home Club);
R.10.2. must confirm its final order of tickets (subject to the conditions set out in Rule R.11) at least 4 weeks before the League Match to which they relate; and
R.10.3. shall pay for the entirety of the tickets so ordered save that it may return (and not
pay for)
any unsold tickets in the final Seating Block for which it ordered tickets if it
has sold 50% of the tickets in that Seating Block
.

R.11. Unless otherwise agreed, the provision by a Home Club of tickets for sale by a Visiting Club shall be conditional upon:
R.11.1. the Visiting Club making the tickets available for purchase by the later of either 3
working days after receipt from the Home Club or the date that is 4 weeks before
the date of the fixture;
R.11.2. any unsold tickets being returned by the Visiting Club to the Home Club not later
than 10 days before the date fixed for the League Match to which they relate;
R.11.3. the proceeds of tickets sold and the value (to be pro rata to the number of adult and concessionary tickets actually sold by the Visiting Club) of any unsold tickets not
returned as aforesaid being paid by the Visiting Club to the Home Club within 4
days of the League Match taking place;
R.11.4. the Visiting Club paying to the Home Club daily interest at the rate of 5 per cent.
per annum over the base rate for the time being of Barclays Bank Plc on any amount
not paid in accordance with Rule R.11.3.

Agreed. I don't think anybody would argue that we should take an extra block of 1000 when we would only be likely to sell a small fraction of them, but it's not as simple as that. The buying restrictions put in place by the box office and the overuse of the loyalty points scheme have the effect of making the demand look much lower than it could be. If we had taken the full allocation for Liverpool and (after the away ST holders window) put them straight on sale to all ST holders and members, unlimited number per person (or say 10 per person if there has to be a limit) then we might well have sold out, especially when you consider that tickets are now capped at £30. But to find out, the club would have to give it a try and they clearly have no interest in doing that. Instead, we get multiple phases for Burnley which even now is restricted to two per person.

Why do they take tickets off sale before they close on Friday. Found out I'm not working and now can't go cause I don't know if they will be selling on the gate.

Give the box office a call - they're open till 5:30pm. They may be able to arrange for you to collect a ticket at the ground.

No they told me that over the phone. They stop selling at 12 and apparently there's nothing they can do. Liverpool are not asneering.
