Hard to argue with that, but I can only see him going anywhere if he knows he will be a first teamer. The clubs he gets linked to can't guarantee that IMO. He also needs to be loved and the likes of Arsenal will only take to him if he delivers every week

I had the misfortune of sitting next to two of Wilfs ‘advisors’ on the train this week. I presume some personal connection because clearly too thick to be genuinely advising but had obviously worked out that investing 100k per month in property was the thing and they’d watched Location Location so had all the knowledge. Didn’t understand stamp duty but presumably not their job. Completely unprofessional to be discussing him in public but obviously made them feel important. I suspect just a glimpse at the hangers on all these top players must have.

Anyhow, as well as talking about how much he hated south London one went on about the clubs who had made genuine enquiries for Wilf (boasting he was ‘in the know’). He reckoned Arsenal, Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen -the latter in his view being the most likely. Suffice to say I was glad to see the back of them.

Why anybody insists on believing he would be sold in Jan is beyond me anyway. Next summer is obviously another matter though

Sounds like utter bullshit to me.

He will cost £75m to prize away from us in the Summer, minimum.

Well that's bollocks for a start. Brought up in Thornton Heath, socialises in and around Croydon and lives in Purley.

He can't hate it too much.

And SkySports won't give up their efforts to prize the best players all toward the top club

Look at this utter bullshit. I listened to the presser and Roy basically said it wasn't his decision, because it isn't.

I bet they wouldn't be satisfied if every player in the league were bought by Man City

Just the media writing cheap stories.

It would be suicide to sell him in Jan.

Inevitably, he will likely go at some point but we must keep him this season.

But they have Knockhaert, Izzywhizzy AND Kaz. Wilf couldn't possibly hope to get in above all three of them?

I imagine they will make a move under the radar to bring Buckley home. He's much better than Zaha

Selling him in Jan would be instant relegation.

Won’t be happening, nothing to see here.

What I don’t get is that if we got £50m for him this is because the league decides that a player of his style and ability costs £50m so if we wanted to replace him with a similar player it would cost us £50m. So the only reason to sell him (other than financial benefit for the owners) would be that it is thought that £50m would buy other types of players that would be more likely to keep us up.

I would say Roy is purely bumping up the value of Wilf by his comments to the media on the possible availability of WZ, but it is a dangerous game to play as it could turn Wilf's head if say a club like Man City inquired.
Why take that risk at this time? he has been our talisman and with all our good work in turning our fortunes around evolving mainly around him. Let sleeping dogs lay for now Roy and re-access the situation in the summer when hopefully our premiership future is secure, also HE may then wish to leave to further his progress.

I watched the press conference. Roy never said he was available. He was basically saying he can’t say that he isn’t available. He’s the manager, it’s the chairman’s choice. And we all know SPs stance.

Wilf isn’t going anywhere
