Newcastle 1-0 Palace (Merino) 52,251

Firstly, apologies for the delay in getting this updated.

After the joys of our win over Chelsea, quite a few predictions seemed to think that that would mean that we would not lose at Newcastle, even if that meant we would only get one point. However, the roller coaster continued and we lost.

Three people correctly predicted that we would lose 1-0 and secure three points for this:
Jim Cannon
melteagle
Little Fozzie

A further 17 predicted a defeat, but got the score wrong, and so get one point:
sl6 Eagle
Laurie
cpfc@eastbourne Ψ
hihi
sw16girl
Worksop Palace
Dj 784 #
Lords Eagle
sydnsteve
CPFC85
desperado
EddieEdwards # #
Gazz Ψ Ψ #
gilesy14
Ian H
Marksf
Son of Ron

Now for the attendance. I was surprised at how many people didn't bother with an attendance prediction. It only takes a few seconds to add five digits, even if you just go close to someone else's prediction. And you may get close and get a point.

Those within 100 of the attendance of 52,251 who scored one point are:
charltonhater #
Ruskin Old Boy #
Far East Eagle
Mr Palace
Langers

Of these, charltonhater was the nearest at just 20 below the actual attendance and so scores two points for being the nearest.

As for the attendance bonus for being between 101 and 200 of the attendance, this goes to:
sl6 Eagle
Laurie
Selhurst300 Ψ
BarcaPalace

Updated table to follow.

Newcastle Away - Updated Table

There have been no changes in the top eight, although Ruskin Old Boy managed to score his point with an attendance prediction that was 99 out, whereas the three behind him, desperado, sw16girl and Dj 784, all predicted that we would lose.

A little bit further down sees charltonhater and EddieEdwards overtake Ooh Betty, pushing the latter out of the top ten.

Further down, both Ian Hart and Hughff are showing solid mid-table mediocrity (I'd take that for Palace now), with Ian being the higher in the table.

There are now 205 scorers on the table.

One final observation before I move on to the Brizzle City debacle. I now have more bonus points (six) than anyone else.

I probably didn't help my chances by - not for the first time - forgetting to make a prediction.

Bristol City Debacle

Quick summary from this match that I am trying to forget.

One point for correctly predicting that we would lose:
AddoWolz
charltonhater #
cpfcfan1
EddieEdwards # #
grand aigle
Hector
hihi
jmemour
Laurie
Marksf
sl6 Eagle
Stellavista
Scoot
SJ's Love Monkey
Stockport_Eagle
Zulu84

One point plus a bonus point for correctly predicting that we would lose and get it over with in normal time:
davech
desperado
Dorkin eagle
Malarkey
Ooh Betty
Selhurst300 Ψ

The nearest attendance prediction came from CharlieCPFC who was over by 694. He therefore gets two points for being the nearest but no-one gets any other attendance points or bonus points.

Bristol City - Updated Table

At the top of the table, desperado now has the same number of points as Ruskin Old Boy, but the latter remains first because he has more bonus points.

charltonhater and EddieEdwards have moved up the table to 7th and 8th, pushing philsick and N down.

210 scorers on the table now.

West Ham Update

All hail his lordship; Wilf.

Top of the pops this week were both davech and Palestinian, who by predicting 2-2, 2 scorers, and within 100 of the attendance, both scored a whopping 6 points.

Scoring an impressive 5 was Ruskin Old Boy, also guessing 2-2 and 2 scorers, but was over 100 out on the attendance.

Only 2 others were to get the score correct. They were Maistonecpfc and charltonhater, who scored 4 and 3 points respectively.

There were lots of good attendance predictions (I hate doing home games!), with 6 of you getting within 10. However it was hughff who was closest, being just 2 away from the actual figure, so he picks up the extra 2 points.

218 on the table

Still lots of virgins getting on the table so won't name them.

Ruskin Old Boy still leads the way, and he now has a comfy 4 point cushion thanks to a big score this week.

Palestinian lept up into 2nd spot with his 6 point prediction, pushing desperado down into 3rd.

The rest of the top 10 is just separated by 3 points, with sw16girl in 4th ahead of charltonhater by bonus points, who is in 5th.

6th on 17 is Dj 784, followed by Maidstonecpfc and EddieEdwards on 16, and N and Ooh Betty on 15.

Palace 2-1 Stoke

Firstly, apologies for the delay in getting the update after the Stoke match out. It has been a very busy week. I was recording the results whilst travelling by train and I want to record here my frustration that Chiltern Railways didn't provide a train with tables for my journey from Oxford Parkway to Marylebone. Consequently, it is quite possible that I might have made the odd mistake.

Now to the Crystal Ball updates following the vital three points against Stoke. That last minute goal made a big difference, as there were a fair few predictions of a Palace win.

Those who did so but didn't get the score correct, and therefore score one point, are:
AddoWolz
Ant.Palace
bodger
Bryan
CharlieCPFC
Critical Eagle
Danny_Cheviot
danpalace07
Eagle Angel
Eaglefoz
ExiledStirling
Flappy Chicken
Glazier69
Glaziers56
JAS78
Jim Cannon
Kai
laths
Maidstonecpfc
Malarkey
mrB
mushroom
N Herts Eagle
palacelad197o
Palestinian
Pierre
rambo1
RazorsEdge
rhiannapaul
Stigma
Surrey Eagle
Thefunkymonk
davech
RobertCPFC

There's a good number who were spot on with the score and thereby gain three points:
Crofty
Favelly Weston
gold76
hilairehair
hughff
mroakley9
Penstone Eagle
Ruskin Old Boy
sl6 Eagle
sylvan eagle
selhurst_bbsh
cpfc@eastbourne
Shipsisourking
EddieEdwards

For these, there was then the possibility of up to three further points for predicting each of the goal scorers. But only one did so, namely selhurst_bbsh
who went for Loftus-Cheek. The most common predictions were for Wilf, Benteke and Crouch to score.

Now for the attendance. Normally, there are lots of attendance points and the associated bonus points for matches at SP. But it would appear that the thought of watching Stoke on the day after Black Friday put lots of people off. The attendance was only 23,723, well below the 25,000+ that we are used to at SP. Interestingly, there were only just over 1,000 Stoke fans.

Those who gained an attendance bonus for being between 101 and 200 of the actual attendance are:
davech
RobertCPFC
cpfc@eastbourne

There were two within 100 of the attendance and they gain a point for this:
Shipsisourking
EddieEdwards
A remarkable achievement given the low crowd. Even more impressive was the fact that EddieEdwards was within 4 of the actual crowd.

The following scored for the first time this season (which is a better achievement than Benteke):
Bryan
Critical Eagle
mrB
mushroom
Pierre
Surrey Eagle
Crofty

Updated table to follow.

Some observations on the table.

Ruskin Old Boy has increased his lead at the top to six points over Palestinian
in second place. Storming into third place from ninth is EddieEdwards.

Other significant movers in the top twenty are selhurst_bbsh, who has gone from 14th to eighth, and cpfc@eastbourne, who jumped from 22nd to 13th.

Outside the top twenty, I must mention two individuals with very similar moves:
hughff, who went from 35th to 25th.
hilairehair, who has gone from 36th to 26th.
I am sure that hughff will be delighted to see that he has gone above Ian Hart, but that is purely down to having more bonus points.

Overall, we now have 228 scorers on the table.

Brighton Update

Only five players scored more than a point for this game. Rather suitably, HOVE EAGLE was one of those, predicting a 0-0 scoreline. Two others did the same. They were Ian Hart and Langers.

Danny_Cheviot grabbed the 2 points for being closest to the attendance, as he was just one number away from the correct figure.

233 on the table

No real change at the top, except for Ruskin Old Boy extending his lead at the top by a point to 7 over Palestinian in 2nd, and EddieEdwards in 3rd.

The major move up the table was from Ian Hart, who jumps all the way up to 12th place, and is now within touching distance of the top 10.
