Just off on a tangent...but came across this interview with Yanis Varoufakis from 2 years ago. He was asked what advice he would give the newly elected Labour leader (1:12).

Quite a prophetic answer.

As long as he stays healthy then it’s a matter of time until he is in government. Brexit will divide and finish off this government as it will be a shambles short term. It’s in Corbyn’s interests not to bring them down at the moment.

Well the centrists did far worse. They lost votes even against a lame coalition and unpopular government. Corbyn increased the vote by the most in history. Big difference.

Well they haven't even said anything was done wrong yet. Given the shoe string budget Momentum has, I would be very surprised if they had breached spending limits.

This is the culmination of a concerted media anti-Momentum campaign nowhere more prominent than the London evening standard and the usual suspects but also in the observer led by that dinosaur roy hattersley and given front page prominence. it and the guardian who sycophantically toed the line over harry's engagement want nothing more than a Blairite labour party. Little now heard of suspected tory overspends. Momentum members are labour party members who decry the cosy arrangements of the past and want to address the shocking inequality, brutal welfare policies and chronic housing situation and worker rights.
The ones I have met are decent genuine people appalled by what is going on in our society. Their demonization says a lot about power in britain today.

And? Most of the time, what the Electoral Commission uncovers is fairly routine and a simple matter of proper accounting. I lost track of what they were doing with Banks and UKIP?

Fair enough. Still rubbish. Blair got 13.5 million in 1997. By 2005 he had lost a staggering four million votes and was down to 9.5 million. Only 900,000 more than Michael Foot got in 1983 after facing a major split and the affect of the Falklands. Indeed the population had increased by about 10 million since so no more at all really.

Brown, the centrist managed to reduce this to 8.6 million votes in 2010. Miliband then improves slightly on this rubbish result.

Corbyn then gets 12.7 million votes. Massive increase and nearly back to 1997 levels. Even with the centrists and right wingers trying to wreck the Labour Party. Imagine the vote if they had been positive. However they should now face the membership for their actions when candidates are selected.

As an aside very strange to see the lib Dems getting 23% in 2010!! The party of centrism now gets 6%.
