I will put a couple of quid on us losing to Burnley. Easy money - and if by some chance we win ....

I said the same thing last year, when we played them after winning at Anfield I think it was. It was their only away win all season!

They will beat us again.

Usually I'd agree with you, but then we usually always get beat by Southampton..

There's just something about this team at the moment..

Looking at our fixtures again and I am delighted by the way we have come through such a tough run of games in this last week with 4 points.

But I have to say that the next 10 look very hard too - we have to play 5 of the top 6, plus Burnley and Everton who are good teams and also top half, tricky away games at Huddersfield and West Ham to add to Newcastle at home.

I know sw16 girl has us down for a lot of points (12) in the last 6 games but if we need all of them at that stage then we would certainly be in the drop zone and confidence may well have dropped.

It still won't be easy and we need to keep picking up points.

Looking at the equivalent fixtures from last season, we are still a point down on last season's total for the same games. Worth remembering we got 41 points of course but I think it still illustrates how tight things are (of course one look at the league tabel does that too).

Hudds (h) substitute for Sunderland L -
Liv (a) L -3
Swansea (h) L -3
Burnley (a) L -3
Saints (h) L -6
Man City (a) L -6
Man U (a) L -6
Chelsea (h) W -3
Newcastle (a) subs for Hull L -4
West Ham (a) D -3
Spurs (a) L -3
Everton (h) D -2
Stoke (h) W -2
Brighton (a) substitute for Boro D -4
WBA (a) D -6
Bournemouth (h) D -6
Watford (h) W -6
Leicester (a) W -3
Swansea (a) D -2
Arsenal (h) L -5
Man City (h) D -4
Saints (a) W -1

It's completely non scientific but considering we don't lose many games I'd been thinking we only need four more wins to be safe
Looking at the stats here I'm sure on that

Assuming we pick up the odd unexpected draw, four wins should be enough. Newcastle, WBA, Brighton, Burnley, Leicester at home, Stoke, West Ham, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Watford away. The way we are playing we should feel reasonably confident. Add to that the 3 points we always get at The Bridge and we are home and dry.

Looking at the statistics, we're the best team outside the top six!

That basically says that if we improve our finishing then we really do have a good team.

Simon Gleave (head of Analysis at Infrostrada Sports) has produced the first EuroClubIndex relegation analysis - which makes pleasant reading for Palace fans:

He adds:

"If anything, Palace's chance of going down is actually too high (as this is based purely on results). Palace profile on everything I have as a solid mid-table team which is as good if not better than Leicester City who are a fair bit higher. Clearly, injuries will affect this given the lack of squad depth but still. "

Obviously things may change after tomorrow, but for the time being we can but marvel at the difference Roy has made.

It's worth remembering these percentages mainly for the purpose of betting and offering odds, rather than being a solid prediction of likelihood. At the end of last season they swang quite wildly over a period of weeks.

Interesting to read, though. A lot to play for over the next five games I think with so many out injured - a few losses in a row combined with further injuries and the outlook might worsen considerably.

For the first time this season more points than games played. As few as 11 more might be enough but we should now be looking for a finish around our current position
