The clampdown on tackles from behind, changes to the offside and back pass rules, faster pace of the game, the high press, increase in attacking skill, requirement to pass from the back - all make things more difficult for defenders. None of those three would suit today’s game. Moore might be ok in a team that sat very deep, Thorn and Young would be nowhere near the top flight.

Yet John Terry managed to be playing for the multiple chamionship winners until last season

Young and Thorn would have easily been able to play at this level

Despite being Chelsea scum, Terry had a pretty good first touch and pass, played in midfield in the youth teams. For all their plus points, Thorn and Young would have looked lost once long ball hoofism went out of fashion. Even Delaney is better on the ball than they were.

No you got it wrong big time, you want to wash your mouth out. Young and Thorn were a formidable partnership. Each player belongs in there time and i don't believe are easy to compare.

Could have done with his 5 million or so pay off in the transfer window ......but there again SP wouldn’t have been sure where to spend it !

Coleman, on the other hand, would still be a competitive CB.

Not because we lost but think it would be good gesture by parish to give fans who made the long trip to merseyside on a cold feb day there ticket money back. After Christmas a lot of fans short of money so going to everton is a expensive day and a great effort on there part not saying this for myself as decided not to go today.probaly be about 40 to 50 thousand pound maybe could arsk mutch to donate his weeks wages maybe that's what meeting with mutch was about.must have a few quid left over anyway after Jan window as we didn't spend all the war chest.sorry in advance if this upsets sp fans or someone who went to Barnsley on a tue night see us lose and never got there money back on that occasion.

If your short of money, don’t go. Budget within your means, we’ve all been to plenty of away games where we’ve been crap.

Possibly right about Thorn but not Young. He had pace and a good reading of the game.

Jesus. It’s the same shit week after week. We win, Roy is a master tactician, lose and Parish is a c—t. Give it a f—king rest. We win some, we lose some and occasionally we draw some. Roy has never had a pop at Parish and he of all people should if he felt it necessary. We spend in excess of £60m in two players, Parish got done over. We spent £5-10m on an unknown, Parish is a tight arse. Blah blah blah.

That’s football, there are no guarantees.

We have to buy our tickets so far ahead that you never know if there’ll be an injury crisis etc by the time the match comes around.

We can’t be giving back money every time this occurs. From what I saw, the guys put in a decent shift of work, so it’s not as if the 11 on the pitch massively let down the fans.

At least we tried today. Can think of many more deserving games for a refund than this one to be honest. Agree re Mutch though. Can we kill him?

Well, actually we were - Sakho is a very good defender but has been very injury prone throughout his career. And Parish spunked £24 mil on him and he was actually out injured when he signed him. And don't get me started about Benteke's contribution this season.

I wonder what Parish is thinking when he sees our bench today. I wonder what he is thinking when Roy repeatedly makes no substitutions. I wonder what he is thinking when he sees the makeshift team we're putting out every week.

Does he recognise it is all his fault??

It's his fault? You mean he's been going around injuring our players?
