I lookat the Lumix and some of the Sony T90 and Panasonics, but after reading some reviews went for this number, a Samsung WB1000 (bought for SA more than anything)

http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/...A3P5ROKL5A1OLE

Its got some lovely features and the HD quality (720p, or 1080i) video quality is good. Just what I need for next year and is future proofed at least until that time.

Drop a few pounds: If you prefer movies to still shots but want to leave your options open (and leave your camcorder at home) the WB1000 is right for you. You'll get 720p HD quality video at 30 frames per second. And a recording time that's 3.5x longer than MJPEG video. You even can use the 5X optical zoom to get up close and personal. You'll give up nothing, except carrying around that extra camera.

Here is a good review for you, quite succint.

Something has arrived! I'll be home later to check it out. Hopefully a) it is the right camera, b) it has all the right bits from the bundle. Then I'll need to check with Pana if it is OK under warranty or if it is a grey import, and also keep an eye on my bank account!

Apparently it needs a CE on the end of the serial number to be kosher.

Well it's all there - what I ordered. But I'm 99% certain it is grey import and probably not covered by the Panasonic warranty.

Am still lokking to get a camera. Might get this one:

http://www.play.com/Electronics/Elec...a/Product.html

but it does'nt have a view finder. When it is really sunny you can't see what you are taking. Do many cameras have view finders now?
