Is this worse than Trevor Francis era?

No pace, no depth, no width, no flair, no passion, nothing, sod all. Thousands of fans not attending every week, negative tactics, negative football. There is nothing at the minute.

It's echos of the period Francis was in charge. He failed to build on Bruce's time, Taylor has failed to build on Dowie's time here.

Remember Taylor was 2nd choice in the summer, and the fans are starting to turn on him. Leaving out fans hero Hughes was not the best bit of PR I'd ever seen either.

Depressing.

It is far far worse. I hate supporting Palace at the moment and that deeply saddens me. I would do anything to get this clown of a manager sacked. He is a menace!!

Failed to build on Dowie's time? I'm not gonna let that one slip by - the team Dowie had at his disposal was stripped of an England striker and our best defender, among others, before Taylor even arrived.

And no, its not. People just like to exaggerate.

You'll find you're in a very small minority - several of us were discussing this at half time today. One of the guys, who's been watching Palace since 1955 reckons this is the worst he's seen but the majority held to the view that it's the worse since Mullery.

Yes this is far worse. Under tricky trev we always knew we had good players it was just that he couldn't motivate them and get them playing.
Virtually all the players he signed either proved to be good players for us in the end or went else where and came good.

Butts- Was immense in our promotion season

Granville- Was a key player when we got promoted and in the premiership

Derry- Did a great job promotion year and has been the first name on the teamsheet at Leeds the past 2/3 seasons

AJ- No need to say anything

Fleming- Did a good job whilst with us

He brought up and nurtured Routledge- Was a top player for us when he was here

Akinbiyi- Whatever you say about him he has done really well wherever he has gone after he was with us

Even Adebola has done a half decent job at Coventry!

We also had Mullins who has turned out to be a premiership player.

Aki turned out to be one of our best players as well and a really good defensive midfielder.

Popovic was a really good centre back at the time.

Matt Clarke was a good keeper and Kolinko was a good back up.

Julian Gray was developing and showing us glimpses of what he could do at Liverpool, against Leeds and with that goal up at Rotherham.

Freedman was 5 years younger, with pace and was still as much of a genius as he is now.

So yes this is far worst than Tricky Trevs. With his team you knew we had the players, the potential, the pace and the quality to be the best team in the Championship we just needed someone to get it out of them which is what Dowie did in the end. We were also a very young and exciting side. I just can't see any potential in this crop of players we have to do anything else but what we are doing now.

The only bit I disagree with is the "failed to build on Dowie's time here". I thought that Dowie had been found out and he and that talentless brother of his had been partly responsible for the current malaise. Remember that most of the current new players were recommended by Bob Dowie i.e. Kuqi (worse than Akinbiyi??), Kennedy, Fletcher, Scowcroft and Lawrence (have I missed any out?) and the only one that I have been impressed with is Fletcher of late. The only bright note seems to be Paul Ifill who was signed one Bob D. had left.

I would add no creativity to your list of failings.

Bruce may have been booed by a section of the Palace fans but I am afraid to say that he is a far better manager than Taylor. Bruce apart, I go back to Sir Steve as the last successful Palace manager. Just think what he could have done for the club with a supportive chairman. The man is a legend.

I've only had a season ticket for 11 years, and in that time the Francis and Smith era were far worse, in my opinion.

Why do Palace fans expect to be up the top of this division every season?
I dont get it.
This is our division and we'll bump around all over it, sometimes near the bottom, sometimes near the top, often in the middle.

It's a middling kind of season.

Besides Taylor's only been here 6 or 7 months, its hardly long enough to be called an 'era' and therefore incomparible with any other 'era'.
