It looks rather light to be at that time, unless Orient had amazing floodlights back then.

This game was amazing. I don't remember much about the match itself but the trip there and back was memorable. The train got totally trashed inside. The emergency cord was pulled a lot. At one point someone got in the drivers cab and played a tune on the horn. At the game the away end was so packed that you feared for your life. I held onto some blokes tie behind me just to stop plummeting down the terrace at one point. The rest of the ground was full of Palace as well. You tell them that today they would never believe you.

I stand to be corrected but didn't the driver leave the train as he was completely pissed off and the said person actually move it a little?

Glad I read yours and Markluke post. I was on that train and it was total chaos and somewhat humorous at the same time. I often said in recalling that trip about the guy on the train horn and that I was sure the train actually moved a little but maybe time had got the better of my memory , the chord was pulled at least four times the last being just outside Norwood Jct by the Goat house bridge and loads of people piling out up the grass bank to avoid getting to the station with no ticket (me) or just to get to the pub that bit quicker. Fantastic game fantastic atmosphere biggest take over of any ground I've seen by Palace fans.

I was on that train and remember all the vandalism on the Tube and london bridge stn were all the chocolate bar machines on the platforms got wrecked .
The train jolted to a halt between west norwood and gypsy hill i think and i remember seeing the Driver get out most likely to contact the signaller by a signal post phone and ask for Police assistance ,
I think everyone jumped out later because they guessed the old bill would be waiting at Norwood jct .

Not sure about precise numbers but I remember that we had packed out the away end and had most of the standing areas in the side stands. The only Orient were in the home end and the seats. If there was 20k there then about 75% were Palace. It was a long time ago of course.

Yes the stations were chaos and I recall being escorted by police at one point because we filled the whole street.

I was there, had to watch the video on the first page. The eagles chants makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck. The display with the scarves at the start of the 2nd half was awesome too

14 years of age, in Holland on some random holiday with the family, desperately listening to Radio 2 commentary on short wave in the car - I think they just had updates from game and went mad when Palace scored. Fortunately got back in time for Burnley game!
