And don't be ridiculous. Rate him or not (not for me ) Warnock has had a pretty decent career and achieved much.

As good as Gayle will become, he would do well to look at what Diego Costa is doing to make another step up.

Sure he can match his work-rate, but Costa is a completely different physical specimen. No-one has ever argued that Gayle is lazy. |

Not sure what looking at Costa is going to do exactly

People so quick to get defensive on here. I was thinking in terms of movement, Gayle is good but Costa is better. Not a bad player for Dwight to aspire to.

What would be Dwight's current value in the transfer market now, surely we must of doubled our investment, maybe trebled it at least.
I still think he will be capped for England!

Seems to have adapted to playing out wide, thrilled for him
He's a funny player because he's pretty ordinary with most of his play but he just knows how to finish. Very hard decisions for the manager when Bolasie comes back in regards to who plays on the wing but personally I think at the moment its Punch and Gayle. Gayle is better than the current Defoe. Do we actually need to spend, what will be biggish money, on another forward. DG is a prolific striker, we have the right player already.

Against both Dover (yes I know it was Dover) and Spurs he whipped in a couple of cracking crosses in from the left side.
He really does have a sweet left foot and right (is there a foot version of ambidextrous?). Was his first goal today with his right foot? He's not bad with his head either given the chance. The guy has a pretty unique running style and always sort of looks in pain to me. Not sure if he is shy or aloof - probably a fine line between the two (I get accused of being both myself). It is probably his personality that has held him back - hopefully everyone can look past this and take his coolness for what it is - an asset. |

We need a target man who can score, especially as Gayle is the only real goalscorer we have. Would love to say Murray is the answer but not so sure he is.
It's great that Gayle is scoring from the wing, it allows us to be compact, have a physical target man leading the line and retain Gayle's goal threat from the wing. He can't beat a man like YB7 but he crosses and takes free kicks well and will always score more goals. If we can find someone who can hold up play, distribute to Gayle and Punch + chip in with even half -a -dozen goals, we will be a prem team next year. |

I think you do Lineker a disservice. His running off the ball was top class

Our selection problems are good ones to have. Afcon / Auscon have been a blessing in disguise for us. It has allowed the manager to shake things up a bit and for squad players to get a sustained run in the team. No way you could drop Gayle now.

If he keeps putting them away from the left wing, can't see how Bolasie can walk straight back into the team.

Before the transfer window i was shouting for a striker that can score double figures...
In all competitions we have one and we're only half way through. Stand up and take a bow DG, excellent stuff

I actually think Bolasie unbalances the team because half the time he takes it on all by himself with no end product, and when he does get through the defence he smashes it over or wide, don't get me wrong he is an effective player but maybe Gayle stitches the team together more effectively.

We'd certainly make a profit this month. Holloway said he signed him because he looked like he could score goals at any level. Sounded like typical Ollie BS at first but looks spot on this morning. Andy Cole, who knows a little bit about finishing, was the studio expert in the Middle East. When watching the second goal he got excited and shouted "first touch, first touch, finish, all about the first touch". Very enthusiastic about Gayle
