After coming on against Barnsley, I thought he was a lost cause. BUT after his recent games vs Leicester and his small cameo against Br*ghton, I've got a lot more confidence in him - he's obviously not a proper goal scorer like Muzza, but he's good in the air, can hold the ball up well and brings other into play. I'd agree with whoever said play 2 strikers, perhaps start KP wth Wilb, or is that too risky? Not sure, but the tie's most definitely not over just because we don't have Murray.

I rate AW highly , good player and tbf Murray has been poor for a while. AW too the rescue, a hatrick at the amex would go down well |

As well as he did last night, I just don't see him scoring in open play, set pieces maybe, but I really can see him setting up others such as KP.

Wilbraham has never scored many goals in his career but seriously some of the crap he gets is pathetic. People who fail to see that he is at least a half decent player obviously don't pay proper attention to his play or choose to ignore it.
Played an awful lot better than Murray did last night, and I think our best chances came through him (correct me if I am wrong.) Wilbs pretty much won us the game up at peterborough with a great touch for one of our goals (the winner IIRC.) He is superior in the air to most players & has a good first touch. Unlucky not to score against Leicester. I would start him and Phillips on monday as they are the perfect combination. Phillips needs someone to win the ball for him & give it to him when he's put himself in dangerous positions. Penstone Eagle - Murray doesn't score that many from open play either, yet we have plenty of confidence in him. Why should it be that much different for Wilbraham?

Wilbraham has good qualities.
He wins headers, holds the ball up, brings other players into the game, and gives defenders a tough game physically. Unfortunately the one main quality he lacks is scoring goals. If we replace him like for like with Muzza realistically we have no chance. If he is to start we need to move Zaha centrally to play just off him. Whether we can change the tactics at such short notice I don't know but I suspect it will be our only hope. Can Wilbraham write himself into the history books, and become a Palace legend? He could do and he'll get full backing from our fans. |

According to BBC website Wilbs has a goal in League Cup. I'm sorry though but a striker must have a better scoring record. Zaha & KP up front please.

Not that warming up at half time is a great representation of a players ability, but he is superb and bringing the ball down.

I am thankful we have him for Monday, also the fact, according to holloway, that he has been busting a gut in training to keep his fitness levels up knowing that realistically his only chance of a start was if Glenn was injured.
Proper pro, deserves our support, and will get it.

Not sure if anyone has commented on this about this but when Aaron Wilbraham chose to join us last summer he chose us over Brighton and Dougie and Lenny were really pleased that he did. Obviously Poyet rates him as well for what he does as they would not have offered him a contract either.
I remember his last games for Norwich in the Premiership and he was very effective for them. Aaron is well placed to prove his decision to come to us was the right one and it will add some spice on Monday if he scores or assists us to score and win the semi final. He will not be out of place by any means.

Good point, I'd forgotten that. Spoke to him at the Lewes pre season friendly, very pleasant guy and pleased to give my son his autograph, made a point of saying it was the first Palace autograph he'd given. |

I thought Wilbraham did well at Blackburn. Think we need to play either Zaha or Banton next to him though.

He's not had an opportunity to show what he can do yet. He's a decent striker and just needs a chance.

Wilbs can do a job if we can get someone close enough to him. We won't be able to do that with our current formation.
