The way I see it is that in the last few weeks we haven't played to Murray's strengths and have been asking him to win the ball in the air most of the time rather than play it into his feet.
If we're going to persist with this, which seems likely, then I think Wilbraham is a better option, he'll win more in the air and will cause centre backs more problems.

With the exception of the Barnsley game, I think he's looked useful whenever he's played in recent weeks. More dangerous than Murray recently.
I think he'll do well. Murray would've started had he been fit (you can't drop a striker with 30 goals, no matter what their form is like), but our forced change to bring in AW will serve the team better in my opinion. We're going to be pinned back for large spells on Monday, and long balls out will be what we have to resort to. Wilbraham deals with this a lot better than Murray, and will be able to bring Zaha, Bolasie and Williams on the counter. Hopefully we bring on Phillips with 20 to go alongside him. Not from the start though. |

If we are pinned back for long spells we won't win. We have to win a lot of tackles in the midfield. We have to press them high up the pitch. They don't have much pace to go through us.
As for AW, the Posh (away) goal that AW set up says everything about the guy's ability on the ground - It was a delicious pass. His goalscoring record for MK Dons isn't bad either.

To be fair, they don't need a lot. It's quite simple really, stop gifting them the ball all the time and let them win it for a change ! |

I like him, reminds me of Iverson when we had him (who I also liked), think he's a smart footballer, plus I'd rather have Phillips come off the bench whose more likely to have an impact that way more than Wilbraham could.

The way he plays, I'd love to see Moritz playing in the hole behind Wilbs. One game that Moritz started behind Murray - I think maybe Charlton at home, but I'm not sure, Moritz stayed close to Glenn and some of the link up play was exquisite. With Wilbraham holding the ball up I think Moritz could be one of the best players in the squad to make use of that.
Also, I like Wilbraham a lot. |

Wilbraham played better than Muzza on Friday. We need Moritz behind Wilbraham to shoot off some knock downs. We know Moritz can shoot.

Given time that unfortunately we no longer have I think he could form a good partnership with Phillips alongside him, this should be tried at some stage on Monday even if its only a plan B. Would need at least one winger who can cross a ball though or even attacking full backs.

He came on against Barnsley and missed 2 or 3 good chances but what struck me was how he got in the position to miss. He did more in those 5 minutes then Glenn did all game (tbf Murray was struggling with his hip IIRC).
He must be confident of starting and that may calm him rather than trying too hard in 5-10 mins he usually gets. This could be set up for one of the unlikeliest hero performances in palace colours! The Brighton connection adds that element that would have me shitting myself if teams were reversed. As others have said, IH needs to ensure Wilbs is not isolated or it could be a very frustrating night. 2 weeks to the final if we get there so I think he has to start super Kev too as plenty of recovery time to come....just hope it isn't a whole summer before our next game |
