If turn ward into a ball playing CB and then have Clyne RB.
I have a feeling Pulis will do this and play marriappa over time.

Nothing in it for me, both great full backs. Maybe Ward edges it this season

Ward due to his defensive play and strength. That doesn't take anything away from Clyne though who is better going forward and is an excellent full-back.

Clyne in BBC team of the week, interesting comment in the why part. Would love to see him back (with Ward).
Did you know? With seven assists, Clyne is the fourth most creative defender in the Premier League. Only Patrice Evra, Aleksandar Kolarov and Leighton Baines have more.

Ward for me, for the overall game, but both have their individual strengths.

I was thinking the other day how many good right backs we've had and how often they're my favourite players. I used to love Humphrey, Edworthy, Smith, Boyce, Butterfield, Clyne and now Ward.

Clyne is a better player.
If Southampton had Ward and we had Clyne, most of you would be saying the same thing |

There's someone better coming through.

Not sure he'll ever make the England team whilst Johnson and Walker are about. This is despite both of them being very average.

Egbo?
He'd have to go some to be better than Humphrey |

Was he the RB in the Brighton U21 game a couple of months ago?

Could you imagine the two of them switching wings during the game? Not convinced by the choices for England, both of whom have been very injury prone this year (Walker looked to have been a possible missing player for the summer). Problem is they (Ward and Clyne) have not had the chance to be tried in a friendly.

Obviously others have seen him a lot more than me, but every time I've seen Egbo (probably five or six times) he's been absolutely quality - playing above his age category a lot of the time, too. He's doing excellently with England as well.
Haven't heard Woosie's pod yet - who were your three outstanding talents? I'm assuming Egbo, Andrews and A.N.Other? I love Ward, and he's very, very good, but Clyne is a better player. A lot of recency bias here, I think, understandably. Clyne is actually underrated in many ways (particularly his attacking game), not least because of the emergence of Chambers. Clyne should be in the England squad. Chambers is a real talent, but not as good defensively yet. Interesting that Southampton regularly rotate Clyne and Chambers. I suspect one will move to a Liverpool or an Arsenal in the summer. |

Few reports saying Kyle Walker may not make the World Cup.
Surely one of these two will go or will the Southampton youngster love-in continue with Chambers trumping them both? |

Just saw Clyne on MOTD. It appears that he has a really stupid tattoo on his chest.
