This season compared with last season calculator
Whilst I have my doubts that we will hit the heights of last season the following thread compares the results from last season with this season. 13 points from the first 8 games would be useful though. And I almost forgot, we need to be safe before the final 4 games of the season.
I have switched the results from last season for Norwich to Leicester, Fulham to Burnley and Cardiff to QPR. Let battle commence. ---------------- 2013/14 --------------------------------------- 2014/15 Team ----- H / A ---Result --Pts --Cum ------------ Result ---- Pts ---- Cum ---- Diff ---- Cum Arsenal ------- A ----- L ----- 0 ---- 0 --------------- L--------- 0------- 0 -------0 ------- 0 West Ham ---- H ----- W -----3 ---- 3 --------------- L--------- 0------- 0 ----- -3 ------ -3 Newcastle ---- A ----- L ----- 0 ---- 3 --------------- D -------- 1 ------ 1 ----- +1 ------ -2 Burnley ------- H ----- L ----- 0 ---- 3 -------------- D -------- 1 ------ 2 ----- +1 ------- -1 Everton ------- A ----- W ---- 3 ---- 6 -------------- W -------- 3 ------ 5 ------ 0 ------- -1 Leicester ------ H ----- D ---- 1 ---- 7 -------------- W -------- 3 ------ 8 ----- +2 ------ +1 Hull ----------- A ----- W ---- 3 ---- 10 ------------- L --------- 0 ------ 8 ----- -3 ------- -2 Chelsea ------- H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 13 -------------- L --------- 0 ------ 8 ----- -3 ------- -5 WBA ---------- A ----- L ----- 0 ---- 13 ------------- D --------- 1 ------ 9 -----+1 ------- -4 Sunderland --- H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 16 ------------- L ---------- 0 ------ 9 ----- -3 ------- -7 Man United --- A ----- L ---- 0 ---- 16 ------------- L --------- 0 -------9 ------ 0 ------- -7 Liverpool ------ H ---- D ---- 1 ---- 17 ------------- W --------- 3 ----- 12 ----- +2 ------ -5 Swansea ------ A ---- D ---- 1 ---- 18 ------------- D --------- 1 ----- 13 ------ 0 ------- -5 Aston Villa ---- H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 21 ------------- L --------- 0 ----- 13 ----- -3 ------- -8 Tottenham -----A ---- L ---- 0 ---- 21 ------------- D --------- 1 ----- 14 ----- +1 ------- -7 Stoke ---------- H --- W ---- 3 ---- 24 ------------ D ---------- 1 ----- 15 ----- -2 ------- -9 Man City ------- A --- L ----- 0 ---- 24 ------------ L ---------- 0 ----- 15 ------ 0 ------- -9 Southampton -- H --- L ----- 0 ---- 24 ------------ L --------- 0 ----- 15 ------- 0 ------- -9 QPR ------------ A --- W ---- 3 ---- 27 ------------ D --------- 1 ----- 16 ------ -2 ------ -11 Aston Villa ----- A --- W ---- 3 ---- 30 ------------ D --------- 1 ----- 17 ------ -2 ------ -13 Tottenham ----- H ---- L ---- 0 ---- 30 ----------- W --------- 3 ----- 20 ----- +3 ------ -10 Burnley -------- A ---- D ---- 1 ---- 31 ------------ W --------- 3 ----- 23 ----- +2 ------- -8 Everton -------- H ---- D ---- 1 ---- 32 ------------ L --------- 0 ------ 23 ----- -1 ------- -9 Leicester ------- A ---- L ---- 0 ---- 32 ------------ W -------- 3 ------ 26 ----- +3 ------- -6 Newcastle ------ H ---- L ---- 0 ---- 32 ----------- D --------- 1 ------ 27 ----- +1 ------- -5 Arsenal --------- H ---- L ---- 0 ---- 32 ------------ L -------- 0 ------- 27 ------ 0 ------- -5 West Ham ----- A ---- W ---- 3 ---- 35 ----------- W -------- 3 ------ 30 ------- 0 ------- -5 Southampton -- A ---- L ---- 0 ---- 35 ------------ L --------- 0 ------ 30 ------- 0 ------- -5 QPR ------------ H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 38 ---------- W --------- 3 ------ 33 ------- 0 ------- -5 Stoke ---------- A ----- L ---- 0 ---- 38 ---------- W --------- 3 ------ 36 ----- +3 ------- -2 Man City ------- H ----- L ---- 0 ---- 38 ---------- W -------- 3 ------ 39 ----- +3 ------- +1 Sunderland ---- A ----- D ---- 1 ---- 39 ---------- W -------- 3 ------ 42 ----- +2 ------- +3 WBA ----------- H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 42 ----------- L --------- 0 ------ 42 ------ -3 -------- 0 Hull ------------ H ---- W ---- 3 ---- 45 ----------- L --------- 0 ------ 42 ------ -3 ------- -3 Chelsea -------- A ---- L ----- 0 ---- 45 ---------- L ---------- 0 ------ 42 ------- 0 ------- -3 Man United ---- H ---- L ----- 0 ---- 45 ---------- L ---------- 0 ------ 42 ------- 0 ------- -3 Liverpool ------ A ----- L ----- 0 ---- 45 --------- W --------- 3 ------ 45 ------ +3 -------- 0 Swansea ------ H ----- L ----- 0 ---- 45 --------- W --------- 3 ------ 48------ +3 ------- +3

Great way of doing this. The last 8-9 games of the season look extraordinarily difficult! We can't rely on the January window this season .

My first of several billion visits to this thread over the course of the season ahead!
I still regard us as one of 5 or 6 clubs tipped for a relegation scrap so getting to that 40 point mark would be great! That said Im far more optimistic than this time last year! |

It's going to be devastating when that nightmare run in at the end costs us champions league football

Looking back we gained 16 points in the first half of last season and 29 points in the second half.
Given how this season's fixtures have panned out it looks like we need to do most of our business in the first half of the season this time round. That would put us firmly in mid table.

Would be lovely to get off the mark with a win. Arsenal lost to Villa at home last year first game/near the start, would be rude not to continue that tradition

I'm not trying to step in Ian's shoes, as this just compares last season's results with this season.
It is not a predictor like Ian's great thread from last year, which I hope he will repeat. The staying in the Premier League Calculator: Keep track of our progress here: To view the link you have to Register or Login

The magic number is 60. I believe this is an attainable goal, and I'm looking forward to Europe... eventually.

If you check out the above link you will see that our Ian Hart started 'The staying in the Premier League calculator' thread last season. As I said this is not a predictor thread but I'm sure there will be one coming along soon.

Oh well back to the reality of being a Palace supporter. By co-incidence Keith Millen's first game last season, after Ian Holloway left 'by mutual consent', was Arsenal at home when we lost 2-0.
The corresponding away game last season was played on Sunday 2 February. After a goalless first half a lack of concentration in defence saw Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain score an opener after 47 minutes. Cameron Jerome might have done better with a diving header soon after but the Ox wrapped up the points with another goal after 73 minutes. Final result 2-0.

Unfortunately no change from last season although our goal difference has improved.

OK back to the football. A Tuesday night game last year on 3 December saw Palace beat West Ham 1-0 with a rare headed goal in the 42nd minute from Marouane Chamakh.
More importantly our first win under Tony Pulis which saw us climb off the bottom of the table and go above Sunderland. I predict meltdown on either the BBS or West Ham message board if one of us loses.

Played Saturday 22 March last season and 'we wuz robbed' deep into time added on. Bolasie hit the bar in the second half and in injury time we had a good shout for a handball as Glenn almost broke into their area.
Inevitably the ball came back down our end and Cisse headed in a cross from Ben Arta to make it 1-0. We ended up playing an extra 5 minutes against the 3 minutes on the board! Time we put some points on the board.
