Or you could say that making a sub during a corner breaks up the momentum and quietens the crowd. Clearly it didn't work in this case but there's always two sides to it.

Have to agree that I thought the subs were poor. Gayle going on was not helpful at all and he left too many players on who were looking exhausted.
of course the lack of quality on the bench may have contributed to the lack of changes. We really lack quality in depth. Miss KG, Par, Ince etc. as decent bench options. Shows how short we are. |

Tonights Croydon Advertiser online report, with some comment from KM, suggests that SP wants to retain the coaching team responsible for the last season. This means KM will still have an impact and we won't see a massive change in style and tactics. MM seems happy to work with the KM team. Sherwood I believe wanted to bring in his own coaching team (including Les Ferdinand). Perhaps this swung the decision in favour of MM

don't get it, Nice fella and all that but has only been at the club since last year,Palace through and through? loyal servant? was he at all his other clubs?. Not knocking him but think some are getting carried away here. We have seen that we need a manager with experience, I think if Millen takes over we will be in trouble, keep him at the club but not as Manager.

Yeah, I'd not be averse to giving him a go.
I remind myself sometimes the absolute worst thing that could happen to us this season is we get relegated to the Champ, with 30m+ in our pocket for some new stands and a strikeforce to rip it up next year. Not that I want that to happen of course. Millen would make a go of it. |

No way - this would be a mistake of biblical proportions.

Millen was the main coach to implement Pulis's tactics and drills, so he's had several months of solid assimilation. Plus the players like him - Speroni came out and said Millen should get the job. For the sake of continuity, it makes sense for him to remain as first team coach. However, I agree that he does not have the experience or seem to have the judgement or imagination to be the manager.

There are no outstanding other candidates to be fair. I think Millen should get the job, for continuity reasons.

Nice man yes but huge mistake if we appoint him .

Just a suggestion. Could we not appoint him as interim manager til Xmas then see how we are. Will give parrish time to look about and give us a bit of stability

Just let him keep going for a few weeks and then make a reasoned decision.
Transfer targets will already have been identified anyway. ******* Glenn Hoddle? embarassing |

I don't think anybody's necessarily hoping he gets the job, just wishing the man well whilst he takes temp charge. Everything he does is in a class manner, his press conferences, interviews and from what I seen coaching sessions. The players really take to him, he's Palace through and through and genuinely loves the club.
It would be a risk, one I don't think worth taking in our current position. In terms of continuity just simply ensure he stays at the club in the role he is in.

For me, it's:
Clarke > most of the rest > Millen > Dowie > Hoddle

I'd have Millen as manager if we could get SSC in as director of football. Think we should be going for stability now.
