Kevin Doyle goal thread
The one positive from all the moaning is it as good as guarantees some vital goals from Doyle. I wonder which one will be his most vital

Warnock rates him, mentioned him in his book.
Hopefully he knows how to get him playing like he did at Reading.

AJ or Doyle ... Both past their best but I would have gone AJ

Yes I suppose there was a lot of negativity when we signed Phillips, so fingers crossed Doyle can prove us doubters wrong.

This will be a short thread.
Murray, on the other hand........... |

His strike rate is rubbish

We will be waiting a while. This signing is a complete joke.

He's a Palace player now, so he's a top bloke. Hope he does great.

From what I know he's strong, good in the air, and faster than Murray is, so i think a more suitable target man to have in the squad for the premier league. He will offer something different, as we have no target man in the squad really to play up top.
I guess Chamakh counts but he has created that position for himself as the inside forward, so he stays there. |

After the initial shock of the Doyle/FFS moves I think we'll benefit in the long term
We have cover in Doyle until January who has experience in this league and we get Glenn back in January hopefully fully match fit. Getting Glenn back match fit could be like a new signing especially if he bangs in some goals for Reading

Similar to Shane Long and about 11.5 million cheaper!

Going to have to wait a while to bump this thread with his goal scoring record...

He won't play any more than Murray, so unless he's on fire in the League Cup I don't know we'll see much of him.

But if we had paid 11.5m for Long, there would be many on here that would be ecstatic that we've spunked away a load of cash. As Fulham showed last year, spending £12m on a striker will definitely mean he's a success and keeps you up.

Might be more helpful to think of Kev as the replacement for CJ. Not prolific recently but maybe can help the team.
Harry Redknapp thought he was good enough to stand in for Charlie Austin and he helped QPR with the play-offs. |

Well if Doyle and Campbell are our new strike force. I honestly can't see them getting to double figures. Where IF Murray & Gayle had been given at least one full game...

Shows how far we have come when we are disappointed to get in an international player with 57 caps and 13 international goals to his name. If he brings his scoring boots with him, we won't be disappointed for long.
