I don't think anyone is denying he was once a good player. Those days seem to be long gone however.

Doyle will only be used to make up the numbers surely?

Pointless signing. At least it shows that Parish doesn't sign players because there is no way he'd sign him.

Looks like one up front with three attacking behind them. First choice Gayle then Campbell, Chamakh then Doyle. You need to assume that at some point 2 will be injured/suspended at the same time, one plays and one on the bench.
Will probably see him the same amount of times as we saw Wilbraham.

Looking at the Wolves forums they pretty much all seem very happy we have taken him and hope we sign him permanently.
That doesn't bode well.

Well it sounds like Muzza pressed for his move himself and who knows when that was made clear to CPFC management - from this it seems all a bit last minute and Doyle was panic cover as no other striker signings came off. With the possibility of another incoming striker Muzza must have thought his chances of getting a regular game were going to get slimmer. Not an ideal situation but it happens. Hopefully things will be resolved in Jan.
On another note - Hull.... a lot of jealousy on here as to their signings. True - they have brought in a lot of high profile names - but at what cost or gamble? The wage bill for Hull over the next few years must have doubled.

I'm really not happy with this signing. Surely there is better out there. We let Murray go for this guy! Wouldn't mind if we had signed someone much better or even a foreign gamble. Don't like foreign gambles ideally, but they are better than proven poor.
Would not even be excited in the Championship if we signed him. He is basically no better than Wilbraham! Well almost anyway |

Of course its underwhelming - but lets face it - he's not going to play much behind Gayle, Campbell and Chamakh...and when he does got to be more of a goal threat than Jerome was last year !!

A couple of early goals would do him and us the world of good.

I know that, just trying to find positives to cling to so I can give him my full support.

Can we give the guy a chance, for God's sake? Don't write him off before he has even played for us. He is a Palace player now. Maybe Wolves didn't suit him. Wait and see. He could yet turn into one of those unexpected bonuses. I'm sorry Murray has gone, but if he wanted to leave then so be it. It isn't impossible he'll score so many for Reading that CPFC want him back. In any case, given Doyle a chance.

Did anyone watch him play for QPR in the playoff to PL last season?

If it is designed to give Glenn a chance to get fit, then it culd be a shrewd move. We did not buy Doyle FFS we just have him on loan as a back up back up. Any goals he gets from, I imagine, a few very brief appearances are a bonus.

Shows what a season and a couple of games in the premiership can do to our support, best fans in the country, what a joke
There was a time we'd welcome a player and give him a chance. Pathetic prima dona fans willing to kick the club at any opportunity
