I have to ask, would these people still be hostile towards TP if he had stayed? but as none of us know the true facts for him leaving, how can we make assumptions and the reasons for leaving and slate his character for doing so. Buts its clear to see the working relationship between SP and TP became untenable, so to have continued would have been pointless, unfortunately this came just when the season was nearly upon us.
What we need to consider when condemning TP walking away is, what would WE do? if having put in so much effort in achieving targets you have been set, and also exceeding it by a long way, to then feel you are not supported if expected to make progress, surely would make ANY ambitious person re-consider his position.
The simple facts are through his achievements, which Palace benefited most to make us financially viable for years to come, his efforts was recognised by most football "experts" by making him Manager of the Year, said it all. By this achievement his stock naturally rose, and the demand for his services would aswell, this happens in all walks of life, football is no different. That does not make him a self centred, greedy so and so only interested in his own interests.
Watching him yesterday showed the passion, professionalism and integrity of the man, when he was full of praise of his time with the club, never condemning openly (he may have thought it) his former employers, yet some see it necessary to question his so called true reasons for leaving.
Why not just enjoy the memory of his time with us and the good times he brought us in those few short months, when CPFC became the talk of the town, unlike the first few months prior to his arrival when we were the laughing stock of the footballing world.
He and We have moved on and is now history, lets hope he left a legacy to follow, that we can move forward with a new Manager as what matters most is CPFC.
I dont think anyone is forgetting what a good job Pulis did last season, but on the same count we are not forgetting the fact he walked out on us. I think there are two Pulis's :

1. Pulis the man-manager - a real leader, dedicated, professional and someone who the players look up to and therefore can get the best out of.

2. Pulis the football manager - someone who really doesn't understand the potential financial risk a football club can be put at by investing in expensive players.

Your statement that us staying up was purely down to him is not fair, as he didn't assemble the squad and yet managed to achieve a position as high as his highest at Stoke. This shows he is talented at managing players but not necessarily that good in assembling the team.

Overall he came across very well on this show but there were still a few strange things he said like putting himself out to take credit for the win at Hull, and then the digs about Stoke being "proper people" and Mourinho getting Chelsea organised early, as if we can be compared.

I admit I was frustrated as any about the lack of transfers this summer and no one really knows whether it was Pulis's list that was unrealistic or whether Parish was reluctant to pay the money (or Moody's role in it for that matter), but what I do know is that Pulis was paid very well for doing his job and he should've stuck to what he is good at, managing a football team.

The fact is that things weren't looking too good after we conceded in the last minute at Newcastle. Many on here, after game, were writing us off. If we had actually gone down, it wouldn't have been Pulis's fault because he would still have had a more than decent record since his arrival. The reality though is that, after the Newcastle game, we had taken two points from the previous five games. Now argue that the Terry own goal wasn't a turning point.
Without particularly wishing to resurrect this debate, I've looked at the league table after the defeat against Newcastle. We were three points above the drop zone, having played two games more than Sunderland who were in 18th place. We also had a worse goal difference than Sunderland. And we were coming off the back of a run of two points from five games when we played Chelsea. So saying that the Terry own goal was something of a turning point seems a pretty reasonable thing to say. But that's not to suggest that we wouldn't have stayed up without it, nor that TP wouldn't still have done an excellent job even if we had been relegated.

Take the 3 points off from the Chelsea game and none of the relegated teams performed well enough for us to go down...is equally applicable..no doubt it added to confidence just as the other teams below us defeats added to their deflated morale and our safety....we were equal to Chelsea on that day....better in fact and Mourinho said so...that was down to the confidence TP installed in the team...(even with the poor form you have highlighted)...and the players themselves....from the two games I've seen that confidence has gone because the game preparation and plan has gone...because TP obviously has gone...
