When you're singing a song, you're not listening to see what 20 people at the back of the AW are singing. 'songs which have stood for decades' are sung in Block B.

Very impressed with the older guy at the front who was choirmastering. His mission in life seems to be to get as much noise out of B Block and gets more and more animated if the song is dying before he thinks it should. The fact that Palace might be on the attack means nothing to him, providing the singing doesn't stop. Hats of to the man. Loved the South London's red n blue army (seems so right - never change it), more needed of We Love You and Here's to You. Interesting how these ones do keep going into the tenth verse and the older ones didn't. Enjoyed AJ's magic hat but a bit rushed by all. Disappointing that Y block weren't that much into singing. |

a) Yes, 25,000 adults having a sing-song at a sporting occasion is a bit odd, but it's all part of the match-day experience and I wouldn't change that for the world. b) Anybody who doesn't think that a great atmosphere doesn't help the team is in cloud cuckoo land (IMO). Edit: Although I do agree with comments about the SE25 song; completely kills the atmosphere, just drop it HF; it's not about having a little sing-song, it's about getting behind the team.

I agree it's a shame you dont here so much of the 'old' songs these day.
Walking down the holmesdale road Although good to hear 'ole ole ole ole eagles' making a come back But we definatley need the chanting of 'eagles' at every corner again |

The bbs, where the very concept of singing at a football match is considered bizarre.
Perhaps rugger might be a spot more to your liking, my good sir? Although sometimes there, you see a few oiks repeatedly hitting one hand against the other when their team scores, producing a kind of percussive noise. Very odd behaviour. |

It's not surprising that the atmosphere has dropped off a bit after the recent shenanigans. Last season everything was positive with a sense of progression and now many feel like we have gone backward.
The crowd will respond when we start winning again. Let's be honest, it doesn't take much to make most Palace fans happy again. |

Much better yesterday. But when the HF stop we really don't have any other organised signing

What ground in the country does have more than 1 stand generally starting songs? To be fair we have the AWM too. It's always generally been started from these 2 areas, log before HF even joined the party.
Would like to see the whole block in AW next to HF stand all game considering that's where they've decided to sit. Shame this thread gets much more press when it's negative though. BBS for you |

Thought it was back to its best again yesterday, especially in the second half. First half wasn't much to shout about, but there wasn't much to shout about from us going forward
Bit of an irony alert for the leicester fans: dont sing "where's your famous atmosphere", then be silent for 45 minutes once your team goes and concedes a goal or two. If you are going to give it prematurely, be prepared to take it when it goes tits up

I was rolling around in the aisle yesterday when the Leicester fans started taunting the WH for not singing, just after the Holmesdale had battered them vocally. Picking on the smallest kid in the playground, the bullies.
Atmosphere much better yesterday. Got to get me a bitching flag in the upper - I imagine that it would piss a few people off. Hopefully the same people making for the exits with 5 mins left. |

That's the point of the song with the continuous noise and repeats. It's called taking the piss.

But it's ridiculous to sing it every week regardless of our or our oppositions support on the day - Newcastle a great example. Can you hear the Geordies sing? Uhh yes I can actually, a lot louder than ours so don't draw attention to it!

Yes, he's never have had a bad word to say about us since the day he left. He's is as "one of us" as a player / manager could be!

It's banter. You've got the HF to our left singing none stop all game so as soon as the good away crowds to our right stop singing for a few minutes , we sing it to them. If they do reply we don't care because we can't hear them.

I love it how people on here over analyse chanting at games. Its like people who over analyse sex... they take all the fun out of it for themselves and are just left frustrated and sometimes crying! Just enjoy the game, join in with the chanting if you want atmosphere and dont give a sh!t about which chants are being sung. As long as they are pro Palace whats the problem? Bollocks along the lines of "I dont like the rythm or drone of that one"... give me a break, you're at a football match, not a sounds of the 60's request night down the liberal club.
