Can't believe im saying this but... WE MISSED CAMERON JEROME!!
Did a job that most of us didnt see. Worked hard, hassled defenders, forced defenders back.

Did a great job for us but I reckon with the changes at the club he would at this moment in time be a liability. The poor decision is really the fact that we loaned Murray out to Reading whilst Chamakh is injured.

Why would he be a liability? He worked like a trojan, and scared the shite out of defenders. I'm not sure the Murray loan is relevant in this case.

Yep. Our transfer strategy for the striking department is beyond embarrassing. It says a lot when you realise Jerome would have been a better option that what we had today.

Not signing Jerome was a huge error considering that we ended up with Doyle and AJ.

Last season he worked like a Trojan but I think without TP Jerome would have been nowhere near as good for us. Certain players will try their guts out for certain clubs and managers. This is where I hope Zaha will fit back in.

Doyle, Campbell and AJ. I'm really not sure what the thinking behind these three is, considering how few goals we scored last season. Genuinely puzzled.

I can give you that one as an 80% Jerome would be a much better option than any of those 3.

Really does show how bad our transfers were when a striker who just moved to a Championship club is a better option than the shite we have signed

And scoring a brace playing against a team that 4 months ago were a PL side!

You would have thought that with Cam Jam turning out as good as he did after the initial slagging off he got on here, that the usual suspects would shut up for 5 minutes and actually give Campbell, Doyle and AJ a chance to show what they can do. But then I guess that doesn't fit with their anti-Parish/Warnock agendas.

We were bound to miss him. Suited our style perfectly and epitomised our battling qualities. The only acceptable reason for not signing him would have been if we had signed a striker in the same mould who would add some goals. In other words, a Jerome upgrade. We haven't - and already look poorer for it.

I think one could argue, that our transfer dealings have been pretty shortsighted at best.
Jerome, Murray, Chamack, Gayle was far better that Campbell, AJ, Doyle, Gayle, Chamack. Anybody that can't see that is bonkers. |

Absolutely. The job he did for us far extended beyond scoring goals (thankfully). We've also missed KG who did a similarly unheralded job, made us look a lot more solid defensively, and who Jedi always looked better playing beside.

Definitely missed him and as I've said in the ratings thread we also miss KG

Did the Emile Heskey role, we miss him and the space he created. Maybe not so much today but his pace v CBs and size v FBs would've always occupied players.

Yes lets judge our whole season on one game today, and also forget that Jerome was beyond gash for most of last season. I agree allowing Murray to go particularly while Chamakh is out is a terrible decision.

I've often got the impression that some Palace fans felt we finished 11th last year DESPITE Jerome. The truth is the guy led the line as we dragged ourselves out of trouble and was a huge part of our success.
The lack of goals justifies not bringing him back, but with him gone it wont necessarily be easy to find an equally succesful front line. |

It is a little comforting to know that Jerome would likely have missed all of the chances against Burnley too though...

Cant believe you are saying this either. 11 man defending versus the football we played today?? I know what I would rather watch.
