I miss CamJo
Awesome work rate used to push the whole team higher up the pitch.

Possibly our biggest miss in what was - in all honesty - a fairly mediocre transfer window.

He probably gets more chances the way Norwich play and of course its Championship .
Notice than Wilbraham Dobbie and Craig Beatie scored today |

Give it a rest. Championship is nowhere near the premier league standard. He will score goals in that league

CamJam has been missed - we didn't use him for his goal scoring, rather to keep the defenders occupied and hold the ball up. Campbell hasn't been able to play the Jerome role, or the Chamakh role adequately. The system we played last season needed a battering ram centre forward, which CamJam did well.
Now playing 4-4-2, I think Murray would be a better option alongside Gayle with Chamakh currently injured. That said it is easier to score in League 1 and Championship.

Good luck to CJ, was ruefully mocked for the best part of the season. He served a purpose, in truth should have scored more goals, but his link up play for the rest of the team has to be applauded. Jerome is now in a team that will inevitably create far more chances, and probably doesn't need need to the defensive duties that was regularly asked of him last campaign, as Norwich will inevitably retain possession at that level, and this is already being reflected in his goal return. He is far more versatile than people give him credit for.
After confirming survival, most fans wanted an upgrade, and felt we were looking for players with a higher pedigree than Jerome, after 4 months & much deliberation the board delivered Kevin Doyle.

Jerome did a brilliant job for us last season, won't score goals at this level but work rate holding up the ball well allowed our wingers to prosper....given the well documented poor signings we've made in the forward department over the summer we could certainly do with him now as an option but wish him well at Norwich, he'll score goals in the Championship which he's started on fire

Doyle, Campbell. Not being nasty to them but I would swap the pair of them for CJ

He played a similar role to the one dele adebola played for us. Worked tirelessly allowing the more gifted players to take all the credit. Dele obviously wasnt as good but when dele was out of the side we missed something from our game.

Jerome is a much better fit for our system than Campbell and I suspect Doyle too. We needed to buy an upgraded version of Jerome but failed badly. Our striker signings were completely abject for a side that finished 11th.

Does AJ have it in him to still play the lone striker role? I havent seen him play for years so dont know what level he is at nowadays.

We've ballsed-up big time probably in letting him go. Defenders were scared of him. Goalkeepers weren't but he was great for us overall.
He'll be in The Prem next season but will we? |

111 appearances in one of the toughest top leagues in the world has Cam and still only aged 28.
Appreciated by many. Underrated by some. Dismissed by the blinkered. |

Sometimes it may not be about how many goals you score, its what your overall contributions to the team is, and that was the beauty of CJ in the team. I fully accept he is a Striker and scoring regular goals is a must, but felt when we were unable to bring in the higher profile players, we should then have gone back in for Jerome, knowing what he brought to the team. Especially as the club had planned to let Murray go on loan seemed strange, but that's history as we move forward now.
Strangely, I see Doyle when settled in doing a similar job, not as physical but with more guile to CJ, but KD is clever player who the fans must give him a chance to prove his worth. What you find with Doyle he can be good on the floor and also wins balls in the air frequently, which would benefit Gayle if he is played alongside, but we must start playing much more to feet rather than hoof the ball. |
