Whilst I accept that the OP's experience sounds below acceptable, most grounds struggle to feed people hot stuff at half-time as there aren't enough windows to cope with the surge in numbers. Maybe it'd be better for areas with limited facilities to stick to drinks, sweets and cold snacks at half-time, cos at least those will be quick and the queues will move along. Even the grub at Wembley was very average (as well as overpriced ofcourse). |

You pay more then the club will look after you. Seems to be the premier league rules Used to love going in there but priced out now.

The catering in the AW was a joke at HT yesterday.
I have already put forward the idea of separate queues for those wanting hot drinks and hot food. Yesterday I got caught behind the bloke whose kid wanted a pizza at half time. FFS, eat before you come it as it brought our queue to a complete stand still. Took them at least five of the fifteen minutes for about four of them to serve it up. It really isn't rocket science. Five beer only queues, two or three food and hot drinks ones. The beer will always sell, in fact revenues will increase. Alternatively sell the hot food and drinks upstairs. Whilst I'm having a moan, the new queuing system in Crystals does not work. The old 'snake' system was perfectly fine, why was it changed? Last edited by dowieslovechild; 14-09-2014 at 09:32 PM. |

I had a bottle of magners in the Whitehorse yesterday.
But catering is not high on my list of priorities when it comes to football. I drink away from the ground in my favourite Croydon boozer and had a nice curry in the evening. The balti pie is good though

Won't be returning to Crystals in a hurry. They ran out of ale, the only cider that they had on draught, was a berries flavoured one.
A bit like our team, it was disorganised. |

Sainsbury's sell a southern fried chicken burger for £1.60, it's always hot & my son seems to like them. Glad I found this, it saves me around £12 a game as I now will not buy burgers in the ground. The also sell individual pizzas for a good price.

I sit in the Stephenson and thought the new bar looked fantastic but the service is still poor! Got in there 2.30 and took 20 minutes to get served (nearly gave up)
The beer pumps must b the slowest I've seen Why can't we get loads ready before the crowds arrive ? Especially at half time - we know approx what people will order!!! |

Moaning about the quality of the food and service is NEEDED!

Red and Blue bar the same. Every game: new staff being trained how to use pumps, the till, mix drinks etc. pumps invariably run out or are "lively", so ages waiting to get fixed.
Yesterday they were having to top up tills at half time with coins! They have a peak selling time of approx 1 hour before each match and 15 mins at ht, but always problems. Unsurprising numbers of customers have dropped at ht because the service is so slow and poor. I realise that being a purveyor of the finest wines in the world doesn't mean you should be rolling your sleeves up and serving beer, but surely it gives you connections to a few people who might have an idea of how to run a bar, with high demands in short "windows"? How about: only selling bottles at ht, and so not taking forever to dispense from pumps? Or getting those mass production pumps that enable you to dispense half a dozen pints simultaneously (they even have them in championship grounds!), or pre-pouring pints in the ten mins before ht, ready for the rush? We all want to support the club, wherever possible, but sometimes it us made very difficult to do so, over the simplest things. |

Good post. When the management see that revenue is lost maybe they will buck their ideas up,

The point about the Whitehorse is that it's sold out to season ticket holders. There will be the same crowd in there every game more or less. It's a captive market.
So in business you want to maximise revenue. You start big and go downwards.....i.e you over cater and over staff for the first two or three games. Determine the market and work from there. You may incur a loss but you've determined what the demand is. If you have too much un sold food you give it away. Who doesn't want a free pie? Three or five extra staff is going to cost £150 absolute tops. 100 unsold pies is what ....another £100 cost? The way it's been done this year people have already given up after two games. An investment of a few hundred quid and you might make thousands more over the season. It means nothing in terms of football economies but if it keeps customers happy it's a winner. |

so you effectively queued for 30 mins for some substandard produce....beggars belief why anyone would queue that long. Can people not humanly wait 90 mins for there next fix on food/liquid. The price of water is daylight robbery.

I'm not entirely sure if that water is fit for drinking? I would imagine that a far few pigeons and rats have dumped in the water storage tank over the years. |
