On the rare occasions I do eat at football, I always get something from the hot food counter at Sainsbury's rather than the club. Always hot, quite nice and a fraction of the price.

I'd imagine it's a very difficult thing to run a football club on a matchday and make any sort of profit, as there is such a small window to actually sell the produce and yet you have to prepare a large amount of staff to be able to do this, along with all the other preparation that goes into it. However, this doesn't take away from the fact there appears to be a lack of investment in the "cheaper seats". As someone mentioned, the family stand should really be set up to look after families and the toilets around the ground really need some decent investment (the toilets in the Holmesdale still leak after all these years, no wonder the basement is flooded!). Considering the lack of transfer activity I think it's about time CPFC2010 did actually start spending some proper money looking after the fans, and if there's no news on the redevelopment then spend it on the facilities, even if it means making a loss on a matchday. |

The Wright and Bright is superb. A huge Pie and Mash portion that tastes great. Good condiments 'Heinz & HP' Well priced for portion size and you can get pie and pint deal.
They need to roll this quality out to rest of the ground.

It really is possible to still be a fan and make negative comments about food, it happens at football grounds, restaurants, take aways etc etc.

In the Red & Blue too.
Really enjoyed it - perhaps a touch too much :-/ |

Cracking Angus cheeseburger at half time at the corner of the Holmesdale.

With respect I have no idea why people even bother - there are tons of food and drink outlets outside the ground. My final straw last season was queuing 20 minutes, paying 2 quid for a tea bag in luke warm water.

With the Whitehorse being the main family area of the ground and therefore attracting the younger fan into a life of palace, then it surely ranks as one of the worst family experiences in the known world. Terrible food, toilets and intimidation from the away fans in the corner.
It doesn't take a rocket scientist to come up with solution to these problems, paint the inside of the stand, improve the toilets to a standard where you won't catch some evil disease or stand in puddles of urine, have edible food and offer kiddies something to spend their pocket money on. Employ entertainers or have kayla brought thru the stand, pop a couple of crystals at the turnstiles to say hi to the dads erm the little kids coming in. Just make it a family stand, not the forgotten area of selhurst park. |

The club is on a hiding to nothing - even if it was high quality, reasonably priced, minimal queues and decent service (and they will never achieve all 4), because we are right next door to a supermarket. There are numerous reasonable cafes and takeaways within a short walk too.
If anyone is unhappy, just take in your own bottle of drink and mars bar (or whatever you prefer)

Saturday was the first time I've been in Glaziers since the promotion winning season. Changed my s/t for the Holmesdale last year but changed back to the main stand for this season. The bar was noticeably quitter than I'd ever seen it. Mind you, not surprised at £15.70 for 3 drinks (although on some occasions we were charged £13.70 for the same round- 2 pints of Carling and a Scotch and Coke ). We've now decided to drink away from the ground pre-game. Shame, but the prices are ridiculous.

I would suggest that the catering manager either visits the Whitehorse him/herself at half time for the next home game or sends someone 'undercover' to observe the shambles and report back to him/her.
I wouldn't have started the thread if it just wasn't so embarrassing and gobsmacking standing there watching it on Saturday. I've been on this BBS 15 years and I don't think I've started a thread anything like this before. It's a shame but Sainsbury's sounds like the best option - it certainly seems from a lot of the comments on here that many many people gave up on it a long time before I have. The net result is that less people eat there so they sell less stuff and employ less people and put less food out etc. - a downward spiral that ends up in money going to Mr Sainsbury's £900M profits rather than back into our beloved club. |

The abrogation of the previous queuing system in Crystals is a complete joke. It has led to longer queuing times, fewer people being served, and ultimately lower revenue.

I sit in upper Holmsdale,as the food outlets were not open at about 2.00 for West Ham game I decided to give my money to local chippy etc.
So looked on Saturday at about 2.15 and outlets open but hardly anyone buying so I think the club are missing out on some match day revenue, they got a "professional" to run the Club shop, survey they can recruit a better catering manager!! |

There are other issues too... against West Ham one of my lads got given his £20 back along with the change from his £20... which he gave back to the bloke and pointed out the mistake... before the game on Saturday the same lad paid for some stuff with one person who gave him the receipt and walked off, the next server asked him what he had ordered and just gave him whatever he asked for without checking what he had paid for. It's a real mess there.

It`s never done me any harm in the years i have been drinking it. If you are unsure just fill your flask up with tap water from home. I was just thinking about ease of getting the flask past the stewards if it`s empty. Plus it takes the weight away from my carrier bag.
