Corie Andrews signs professional contract
On his 17th birthday Corie Andrews has signed his first professional contract with Palace.
Very quick and talented striker, probably the best prospect in our youth team atm. Was included in the U21 squad against Colchester which was postponed.

Congrats to him. Not suggesting he's ready but to be fair I think there's potential for a centre forward as we aren't blessed there.

How does he rank compared to Zaha, Moses etc?

Don't think he's at the level of Moses and tough to compare to Zaha as different style of player. Definitely one to watch though. Gazza2 has seen him more than I have.

He mainly played as a winger in the U16s where he showed off his main assets of extreme pace & good dribbling skills. During the season before last, to give him an early taste of U18 football he would sometimes play for the U16s in the first half then come over to U18 game on adjacent pitch and come on as a 2nd half sub. By the end of last season he had established himself as first choice CF in the U18s. He scored 2 fine solo goals in final home game of season v Brighton.
He scored another fine solo goal in U18 home draw with Forest the Sat before last where he simply speed away from the defence and slotted home. He is very fit and is developing a strong physique. He is going to score a lot of goals. Only just 17 so can get bit frustrated if things not going his way. Quickest player I've seen for ages. When he came on as sub season before last for U18s at Charlton, I could hear their players refer to him as the cartoon character The Roadrunner! As Woosie has suggested, even though just 17, it will not be long before he is moved up to U21s. It may be that like a few young CF before him (eg Scannel & Zaha), he may be played wide when he first breaks into 1st team. Give it a couple of seasons and I suspect he will not be far away from 1st team as he can dribble passed moat easily and scores goals out of nothing on the break. |

And if you want to see him play, the U18s are at home this Sat, 11am ko.
