Agree with Baloo. We have the players we just can't seem to put together a tactic that will see us be competetive more often than not! I really do think Fletcher must go. He's done many good things in his time witn the England team but he is stale and we need to move on now.

England will struggle at ODI cricket while they struggle to get into the team players capable of big hitting in the last 10 overs of a match.

My lot have Afridi, Razzaq, Malik, Inzi, Yousef and Akmal.
India have Tendulkar, Sehwag, Dravid, Singh, Dhoni, Pathan and a few others
Australia have Symonds, Hussey, Clarke, White, even Lee
Sri Lanka have 4 capable players
etc etc

England only have KP and Freddy.

I mean, you wouldnt bank on Bell, Vaughan, Joyce, Nixon, Strauss, even Colly getting 90 runs in the last 10 overs, would you?

Nick, come off it, name them?

The chav is all class, no arguments there, and Flintoff is top line.

Collingwood's handy, and a good fielder. Anderson bowls o.k.

The rest of them are shit.

Strauss, dud.
Loye, backyarder
Nixon, FFS.
Bell, retard.
Joyce, unproven.
Dalrymple, *******
Lewis, pedestrian
Panesar, test player.

we could roll out a 5ths side that would beat your mob of village green hacks.

Surely Vaughan didn't say THAT (the sentence in bold)?

No guts, no idea and no future
By Iain Payten
January 25, 2007

EIGHTEEN months ago they were showered in ticker tape. Now the best England can hope for is a pelting of rotten fruit after their tour of Australia plunged to a new low this week.

Having already lost the Ashes in a whitewash, England's hapless tour went from bad to awful in Adelaide where they crumbled to a 90-run defeat at the hands of a mediocre New Zealand side.

The loss was met with scathing reaction in Britain, where the press labelled England's limp effort as "pitiful", "pathetic" and "shameful".

Losing to Australia in Tests and one-dayer was one thing, but capitulating in 38 overs against the Kiwis saw a resignation back home that England are now placed down near Zimbabwe and Bangladesh in 50-over cricket.

"They lacked guts, technique, purpose, patience and any sort of game plan," The Sun newspaper reported.

"This latest game of the tri-nation competition was noteworthy for confirming England have no chance whatsoever of winning the World Cup."

Former England fast bowler Angus Fraser, now a cricket writer for The Independent, described the English batting collapse as "a debacle".

"England do not deserve sympathy. All they merit is a kick up the backside," Fraser wrote.

England arrived in Australia nearly three months ago highly confident of retaining the Ashes and, despite enormous hype, handed them back meekly to Australia by losing all five Tests.

Its one-day side was never expected to be as good as the Test side but the second half of the tour has turned into Chinese water torture for England fans.

The Poms have won only 27 per cent of their past 32 one-dayers, just edging out Zimbabwe's record of 24 per cent.

Injuries to key batsmen like Kevin Pietersen have taken their toll, and Australia is always a difficult foe, but losing to New Zealand heavily was a new body blow.

The majority of the Kiwi side was in the same team dismissed for just 73 by Sri Lanka 17 days earlier.

England coach Duncan Fletcher is now under growing pressure to keep his job in England but yesterday attempted to remain positive as he surveyed the wreckage of his tour.

His squad will not go home without a win but could still rank as one of the poorest England visits unless things change rapidly.

"We've got to get their confidence back. It's not an easy job. There's no quick fix," Fletcher said.

"I had a chat with Michael (Vaughan) and he said 'let's not come up with too many new ideas because we might confuse them'.

"We're trying to get them to go back to basics and play as we know they can. I'm pretty confident there are a lot of ways we can take our cricket forward once we have confident cricketers again."

Missing the experienced trio of Vaughan, Pietersen and Marcus Trescothick, Fletcher pointed the finger at a lack of form from senior batsmen like Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood.

"Strauss is struggling and Collingwood is too. That compounds the problems we are facing with key players missing and inexperienced players in their places," Fletcher said yesterday.

England risked further criticism yesterday giving the squad the day off after their its most recent defeat.

"You have to be careful. You can't be on their backs all the time," Fletcher said.

"If you get them to practice too much there's a danger that when they get out in the middle they'll be thinking about their games too much.

"You've got to try to get them to relax, come back, free themselves up and play their natural game."

Tomorrow, however, the tour gets no easier as England meets Australia in Adelaide for the first time since their calamitous second Test defeat there.

Embarrassing.

ABC commentators so bored with the usual England capitulation that they are discussing the tennis...
