Enjoy listening every week but could you move the mic away from James endacotts nose so his heavy breathing isn't overlaid over the entire conversation? Genuinely made it hard to listen to (episode post stoke game)

Only 25 mins in to this weeks but thoroughly enjoying so far. It seems nice (and strange) with it being so upbeat after the last few results.

Are you gradually taking a backward step from the presenting side Trilbs, or have you just been busy of late?

Except there was a suggestion that Palace fans had been historically unfair with regard to Punch. I don't think that's true at all - he was mostly useless last year but has been excellent this season (thus far).

I'm also not sure how this Cabeye 'bashing' has come about - it seems quite fashionable at present.

If he's fit he should start for us as far as I'm concerned. An average performance from Cabeye is better than the best performance Ledley can muster.

Not necessarily the right thread for it but with regards to the abov, I don't think anyone doubts that Cabaye is better then Ledley but doesn't mean he is a better fit for the way in which we are playing at the moment.

It's not bashing Cabaye it's just the way it is.

No - they were right, and you're wrong.

Still, let's not argue about this here.

I think Cabaye deserves bashing. He's an experienced and well paid pro with a high reputation and therefore should be held to high standards. I feel we are more harsh on youth or the likes if Mutch who you should expect less of than the stars.

I just find it strange that there were constant excuses made for him since Xmas (and passionately so) then all of a sudden they have turned. Seems pretty sudden, much like the Jose and LVG treatment in the mainstream press.

Punch was VERY poor last season. FYP suggesting that was down to the players around him is again an excuse and one that certainly does not justify the very low level he produced. We know he is capable of more.

I love the bloke and rate him as a player but tell it how it is. Just because he has been decent recently (although don't use paper ratings to justify this) doesn't change that.

I don't think Cabeye was any worse than anyone else in the second half of last season and better than some.

My perception is that he is a very different player to the one that many supporters had thought we had purchased. He is a very good defensive midfielder (far better than Ledley) but many expected him to be a creative ACM type and have therefore been disappointed - unfairly in my view.

Discussed at length elsewhere, but briefly, I thought he had a poor patch just before getting injured, but would always have been in my starting eleven, even then. Not reaching the stellar heights of his first two seasons (he was our best and most influential player in those years), doesn't make him "useless".

But we are entitled to expect more from an experience, French international with plenty of caps, who cost 10m and is on mega bucks - than a Joe Ledley. Would you not expect more from Benteke than his little brother? They can't ask for the big bucks and then be asked to be judged as if they are a youth player coming through.

Position wise I never realised why we made central midfield a priority at the time. Punch had just played great as ACM before he was signed and we knew he was not a 100% natural ACM and at best a MC. I always thought he was a luxury and a big expense we did not need. I thought he did not fit out set-up. But even taking that in to account, he's been poor even considering this. I'd expect him to be more effective even with this being taken in to account given the experience and so on above.

It's worth remembering also that Puncheon was out injured for two months (from the 2nd of February to the 2nd of April) -- a spell in which Palace didn't win a single league game. He scored on his return to the side with a goal that ultimately ensured we were safe in the league.

And then scored in the Cup Final (I think we would have won if he'd started, but that's by the by).

I think he's been very effective for us when played in the defensive midfield position. Vastly more so than Jedi or Ledley. He's clearly not an attacking midfielder and has underwhelmed when played there.
