He is very talented player, and underrated. 10M is a bargain.

Put it this way.

Dier was linked with united for £30 million last season and Luka is twice the player he is in that DM role.

Not selling them does not always work: Virgil van Dijk.

The key is to identify players the big seven clubs will not want. Southampton were unlucky to lose Lallana, Clyne and Lovren to Liverpool at a time when Liverpool were rebuilding as they will probably be replaced with upgrades this summer.

Good to see Luka and Cabaye getting in the ear of refs for decisions for and against us.

Just watched his interview on the eagles website - apparently he's in a whopping 900,000 different fantasy football teams out of 5,800,000 overall. That's quite incredible.

Maybe Wilf should just zip his lip and we wouldn't have to concern ourselves with needless bookings.
Luka as captain needs to get involved when players like Wilf get involved in spats. On occasion he has got involved, but he needs to be in there all the time. It's called leadership and I believe that he has it in spades.

I think it will depend how he performs for Serbia at the world cup. Playing alongside Matic will be interesting to see how they get on. If he plays well then you could see interest, although not sure who would come in for him!

Likes of Roma and Benfica were linked before he even came to Palace. Not sure how many big English clubs will be interested though.

Unless Serbia get very far in the tournament he shouldn't get too much attention. The tournament is going to be packed with good players. But it won't have gone unnoticed he has settled really well in the Premier League and possibly the likes of Everton or Leicester would be the sort that might take an interest but I think we have every chance of keeping him for now.

The pens and free kick goals will definitely have enhanced his reputation. There is no doubt that he is playing his best football for us right now. The questions that bigger clubs have to answer before bidding is can he do that for us. Our narrow formation helps him a lot. He is far more mobile than Jedi was and regularly covers more ground but he isn’t quick. Not slow but doesn’t have that surge of pace important going in either direction.

The bigger clubs won’t plan to give him quite as much support and that will rule out quite a few clubs. Teams in the Everton, Leicester, Burnley etc are the most likely but the first 2 have good players there and would he go to Burnley , normally I would say no but they are now in Europe? Hmmm and no question he would fit into their ‘culture’. They must deepen their squad or risk their league position.

I think the good news, is that the list of clubs he might go to that will be interested should be fairly short. As Captain with things going well now he would want to stay you would hope but who knows.

Burnley have had a good season but could easily have a crap one next time round.

Our season has been crap but it looks like we'll be OK and I personally think we could have a blinder of a season next.

I don't think we'll have a problem retaining the players we want to keep.

Luka has been great but how anyone can suggest that any player other than Zaha should be POTY, is beyond me. He’s almpst single handedly kept us up - look at the stats.

You get more from a Luka interview than you do any other player. All three goals against Brighton were practised at training, that's surprising in a way, you'd expect one to be spontaneous/improvised - lots of credit to Hodgson.

That's because on the official Premiere league game he's really under valued add that he's a guaranteed penalty taker so with Wilf playing he's a no brainer.

Started at 4.5 and now is only up to 4.9 million.

Watch the interview and you'll see why he is club captain. Assured without being full of himself, thoughtful and considered. I hope we can hold on to him for a couple more seasons at least.

Absolutely grown this season. Be lucky to hold on to him as I'm sure many "bigger" clubs antennas have been alerted.

However this year he has continued to be a complete beast defensively, but his passing/creativity/technique seems to have come on a long way! Perhaps i underrated this aspect of his game last year, but he has fantastic vision and a real ability to pick a pass. For the first time since promotion we have a player who can pick out a runner from deep - much like we thought cabaye would.

An absolute gem of a player, and for me its a toss up between him and tomkins for POTY.

Just wanted to rant about how much i love luka really. Pretty much Jedinak with +50% technically ability.
I started a thread some time ago that suggested Luka could be a CM and still believe he could, if an established CM was not available at the right price and we could find a genuine DM replacement for Luka. It is remarkable how many of our goals and best chances have come from him of late. It should also be pointed out that he started as an AM.

I've always felt Luka was the most important buy we made under BFS and he did even more to keep us up than Sakho in the eight games Sahko played. Luka is arguably POTY both in terms of consistency ( perhaps Tomkins ) or impact. ( many say that is Wilf but thankfully we've not had to find out how many games we would win without Luka )

If we keep Luka, Wilf and Tomkins plus bring in a quality box to box CM + plus AM then we will surely be challenging the top eight. I fear we have more chance of Wilf staying than Luka however, for various reasons.

It was Southampton away and his super strike that took him from being one of our best players to basically the Main Man. And he is the Main Man. We score because of him and concede less because of him.
