The old Palace died when Holloway resigned. At either that press conference or a subsequent interview Steve Parish said something long the lines of having been willing to stick with Holloway even if it meant going down.

When we decided to go with Pulis as the replacement, the attitude became very clear that it was now we would do whatever it takes to stay up, even if the football was ugly or pragmatic, and that staying up bonuses would be standard, as that was the only real goal every season

Don't really disagree with it, it's a decision based on the realisation that as the club grew, a lot of people would stand to lose their jobs in the event of relegation, and that would be unthinkable

Haha, yes that question points to an identity crisis.

Like me, you're getting older, grumpier, and very stayed in your ways. you resent change that doesn't conform to the standards you've set for yourself. it's a fact of life, but to say the club has entered into a new era with "no honour or respect just a desperate and slavish devotion to Sky and the Premier League" is utter nonsense. The club has been evolving along with everything else in life and like it or not, this is just a part of the process that's been going on since day one and will continue long after you and me have evolved into ashes and dust, so enjoy what you have while you can.
Excellent!

Indeed - in all that time we don't seem to have players that can pass or put a decent corner in. Are all clubs like this?
But we did have the 'Team of the 80's' which in it's gestation was a bloody good team... I still don't think I've seen anyone pass the ball like Jerry Murphy!

I have never understood why we have been so sh#t at passing the ball for so long, it's almost as if there is a curse over the ground that renders perfectly good players to incompetents when it comes to passing...I wonder if it dates back to the ground-share with Wimbledon!

@GuyVerhofstadt.@EmmanuelMacron spoke about an open door for the UK. I agree. But it will be a brand new door, to a new united Europe with real powers. Very ominous.

Has the club really grown?Look at the ground, academy and coaching set up.Ok we pay players 50-100k a week but once we go down they will **** off just like the Americans. Its all built on Sky/Prem money.A house of cards.....So I stand by my OP.

The f*ck it doesn't. No one in their right mind would support this team presently. Fortunately, I have mental issues.

We've been winners and losers, but we've always been in the mix.

Great post (apart from the rogue apostrophe in 'tit's')
