So underrated on here. yeah he has had some injuries, do you not remember how badly he was missed. Also before his injury last season he was coming off the bench and having a far bigger impact than Benteke was. Very good player with a great left and right foot.

It'll be interesting to see how he plays under a manager that is looking to supply him with chances that aren't just from the wings. His hold up play was also underrated and although he may not have got that many goals for us, he was working with his back to goal and remote from the rest of the team for the vast majority of the season.

Don't forget he spent most of his Sunderland career on the flank, he's a decent forward.

There's a clue why he spent more time on the flank than as a forward.

When he does score it is normally in consecutive games and then nothing.

He was only badly missed because Frazier Campbell was his replacement , again years of neglect in the transfer windows have resulted in a thread bare squad .

Nothing I have seen this window will change that , another manager sacking at Xmas and influx of average players in January

Never before have I seen a Palace player afforded such excuses.

We all want him to do well but Connor Wickham is the ultimate 'this is his season' player or 'x will get best out of him' but said at the start of every season and every new manager.

Not a bad player but his lack of moment will never make him a goal scorer at this level. And whilst his physique looks great his pace and agility is now nothing like the youngster that was at Ipswich.

Not saying hes a bad player and he will probably have 4 or 5 good games again this season that will give people hope. But for a team that want to challange for a top 10 finish hes off the mark.

Poor guy, I think injuries will stop him from reaching his potential.

Completely agree with this. I've taken some serious flack for saying Wickham is nowhere near the required standard for us. He is on a list of players perhaps too good for the championship but not good enough for the Prem.

Yeah, given we started with the weakest squad in the championship under 2010 it is no surprise that this disastrous transfer policy has led us again to bankruptcy but this time in League 2.

Oh, we are in the premier league for a record fifth time in a row. Really?

I want to believe in Wickham but I'm not overly hopeful. I thought he showed real promise when he came off the bench and scored a great goal against Man City. But it's been slim pickings and the injuries have been relentless. I hope it's not the case but my hunch is that he'll have another disrupted season and we will try to sell him next summer. But I hope the opposite happens as he could be a real asset. I do worry about this poor movement and think that's where he needs most development.

Spot on. Maybe that's down to injuries. Doesn't change the end result though.

Agree about the niggly injuries, but that last one wasn't too dissimilar to the one that Sakho got in that they're both big lads that over stretched. He looked very good until he got injured and well up for it. Again, I agree in regards to his movement, but he was never anywhere near anybody else and seemed only to get crosses in from time to time, FdB will be looking to play the ball to his feet and in front of him. He's only played under Pardew for us so far, I'd like to see how he got on without that disadvantage.

The funny thing is when we sold Murray and brought Wickham. The general consensus was Murrays legs were gone and he had just had a major injury so staying fit would be an issue.

Well since then Murray has played over the double the amount of minutes than Wickham.

Murray is a championship player who is 30+ And funnily enough had just come back from same injury wickham now has.

Wickham in 24 (I think) and has potential to be excellent. Shame he seems so injury prone. If he can clear his injuries up he's a good player, especially to back Benteke up. He isn't being afforded excuses. When he has played especially before his knee injury he scored and looked a handful.

I'm also unconvinced from his record and games at Palace and think he's an expensive backup. Sadly I don't see us shifting him with his injury record and on his wages. So, he's a backup I hope we don't need to use often, but hope in proven wrong and he does come good here.

We don't have enough CFs for us actively look for him to leave. But I'd hate to see him block an academy lad. Don't think he would merit that based on performances. Would love to see an academy given the time and patience he has had.
At the risk of chasing you down this is pure guff, and contradictory in the least.
