Leicester have also lost one of their best players in Mahrez and their back-up keeper and replaced them with Ward and Maddison. They have added Evans where Huth has left and Pereira. Whilst the incoming signings look pretty good they have lost a huge source of their goals.

Southampton have finally tried to replace VVD, they replaced Tadic with Elynouissi and the signing of Gunn looks a good one. They are probably stronger but start from a very very poor base and were lucky to survive last season.

Wolves have spend a lot of money to get the team they had last year back for this year as most of the players bought were there on loan last season. Patricio looks an improvement in goal and will be interesting to see how Sportings compensation claim plays out.

Brighton have signed a lot of players, including 1 they will loan out straight away. Would only have been interested in us signing 1 of them (another is a decent prospect in a position we don't need).

Huddersfield like Wolves have spent most of their money buying the players who were on loan last season. A striker with no real scoring record in France and a winger who struggled to get a place in the Stoke team.

Watford have signed Deulefeu who was on loan last year too and apart from that they are usually active in briging in lots of players hoping a few pay off. They will become more active if/when the Richarlison deal goes through.

I would disagree that the any of those clubs (West Ham excepted) have made significant moves in the transfer market. They have signed players but mostly to stand still and just a few players in there who have really strengthened them. All but Leicester start from a position of finishing below us last year.

The argument is that we are weaker and have slipped behind them that way but many of us hope that we will plug the 2 major holes in the first team and then maybe a player or 2 to strengthen the squad behind that. If we do that then the business done so far by the teams mentioned does not look too worrying at this stage. Obviously depends if they do more business in the window too.
I haven't got the time to dissect that but it's inaccurate on many counts. Huddersfield for example have signed a few players who weren't there on loan last season. Sobhi, Bacuna, Durm, Diakhaby to name just four off the top of my head. Kongolo signed after being on loan. They have improved. Wolves have signed several players, not all of whom were on loan. West Ham as you say have done a lot of business.

We are weaker as it stands. But there is time to put that right so let's hope we do.

I see Fulham are being linked to Gayle if Mitrovic doesn’t come off....hardly inspiring that one!

Letting player contracts run out sounds like a job I can do for a small fee

That would be a good signing for them. I would not mind having Gayle back. Think he would thrive under Roy and the way we play. There is no doubting the fact that he is one of the best finishers in front of goal.

Not what you said. You said they had merely signed loan players. The players they have signed are young, promising and have re-salve value. Look like good signings to me. I'm not a scout so I don't know enough about to them to say whether they are better than what we have. All I've read is managers including Wagner say they are happy with their business and that they've addressed the weaknesses in their squads.

Anyway, all I care about is who we sign and there is time but we need three at minimum.

Agree and staying level will not be good enough. We could have easily been relegated last season and it is an old known fact that teams that don't freshen up their squads generally have a poor season.

Would have been a good option in the Cabaye hole but he is on big wages and is 31 now. Wonder what Wolves will be paying him?

Why cant you ever hold your hand up and concede? yes i appreciate we all have our views, but you seem to argue for the sake of it regardless.
What Mr Palace has said is most likely right, he is judging on what he has seen to date of other clubs strengthening their squads but also very importantly within their budgets, whilst we have infact have weakened ours. Not much to disagree with there surely?
How are you questioning the signings made by these other teams, when in fact Roy Hodgson since taking over has only been allowed to bring in what i would describe as Three sub standard signings in January, you can but only feel sorry for the man under these circumstances. As for us our signings to date this season is simply a goalkeeper on a free, and lets not forget the squad has been considerably further weakened with the loss of Two vital players, along with other squad members moving on, how on earth is RH supposed to compete in what is going to be a very competitive league.
Yes that may well change before the window shuts so it would be wrong to pre judge the Board's intentions just yet, but what you are judging is the business that has been done to date by other clubs who will we assume be in the relegation mix come May, of which Palace are certain to be of of them should we not bring in much needed improvement of the squad.
We can only avoid the trap door for so long.
