It is clearly her plan to marginalise the morons that think no deal is a option. She may be a massive lying slippery **** but she is also intelligent and politically it is the right move.

It'd be strange if the Tories increased their majority. I mean, what have they actually done right in the last few years? They even made an utter mess of a simple referendum.

Be interesting to see how this pans out. The classic polls don't seem that relevant to me this time around despite them dominating the reporting so far.

The SNP will be fighting on the 'Scots should decide their own future platform, Labour will fight on the classic territory of NHS and service provision, Liberal and UKIP will fight on Brexit and the Tories will be forced to end up fighting on all of those fronts. The remainers will distort the vote as many will vote against the Tories to put a brake on Brexit (albeit not clear what that even means).

Soooooo, I am not sure if it's such a masterstroke from TM or not. I can't see there being the landslide predicted beforehand. It will probably end up pretty close and bloody. The sideshow being what happens in the Labour party during and then critically after the election.

Irrelevant of political standpoint - the worst possible answer to me seems like a wishy washy damaged Government with no more power than today as they chart the way through the inevitable EU mess ahead. So I am going to hibernate and wait to see if its cheers in the streets or a nuke that wakes me first

Labour will be the big losers - their only hope is if Corbyn suddenly develops a conscience and half a brain cell and decides to resign, or if someone bumps him off.

My prediction is that the LibDems will make a handful of gains but the Tories will get back in with a slightly increased majority. UKIP vote will disintegrate, Green vote will go up a little. Our voting system will continue to be crap, and most people's votes will continue to be meaningless.

I feel like people live in a meme and gather their opinions from mainstream media.

The inability to corelate your long waiting time for a doctors appointment with your current government also baffles me.

Just heard from a very good source, who has spoken to the original investigation team, that the DPP will shortly announce prosecutions of up to 24 Tory MPs over the election expenses scandal. May will have known about this.

So the sudden call for a General Election breaking all her promises - she's scared of losing her majority when up to 24 Tory MPs are disqualified.

She had to make the announcement before the DPP's - so that explains the rush.

You'd think people would blame their problems on the government who has been in charge since 2010 wouldn't you?

If this is true, do you think it will put off any Tory voters?

I think people will return to type and vote on fairly traditional lines. Don't look to the Brexit poll for an indication which crossed all kinds of Party lines. I think the Tories will win being seen as a safer pair of hands than Labour especially if they continue to make inroads in Scotland. Labour may also be vulnerable in Northern marginals where they have not been engaging there traditional voters very well.Brexit will play well in the Essex marginals like Basildon.

First Labour MP refusing to stand under Corbyn leadership, what was it 172 voted against him in the PLP. To now stand in the election to vote him in as Prime Minister is not a position that some will want to be in.
It also must have McDonnell fuming if they lose it will be before the Conference where he hopes to get the 5% of MP figure agreed the chance of getting another far left leader will mean Corbyn staying on whatever the result. Labour in turmoil now whatever happens

Where as I'd be astonished if any Tory would be put off by it.

Any Conservative voters here put off by Tories cheating?
