The defenders should have done their job. If they did Hennessey would not have had to grab the ball from Crouch.

Is it twaddle to suggest a keeper might collect a cross? Maybe this keeper.

He did collect the cross, but, in that instance, if the defenders had done their jobs it should never have got that far.

He collected it and was fortunate but he needn't have had fortune on his side if the defenders had done their jobs.

I've never wanted a player to injure himself more

Then we have to play Jules.

We'd get Jussi Jaaskelainen in on an emergency loan.

Guy on FYPTV reported that McArthur was giving Wayne verbals at one point for doing something wrong. Anyone else there see that?

They were nowhere near Crouch which was awful defending. Hennessey was fortunate but this was down to his being put in that position.

The punch was poor but he did at least come to try and deal with the ball which is something he has been accused of not doing.
I SWEAR that you can hear him shout 'keepers' before waiting for the ball to bounce into his hands as Crouch closes down... how lucky was he to get away with that???

I've been way past 'objective' for quite some time now. I can only call it as I see it, and I have been utterly convinced for far too long now that he has been winging it and has fundamental basic issues with his game that cannot be repaired.

Thankfully it seems that the vast majority have come to accept the same conclusion (many far more reluctant than others, but who ultimately could not avoid the harsh reality) i.e that he is not good enough and is costing us a mind-boggling amount of points.

Yet still he is announced in the starting 11 every week (genius Allardyce - see other threads and posts calling him out in a similar way to Hennessey) and so still this thread carries on, and on and on until the blessed day when he is no longer our 1st choice keeper.

A lot of people have said for some time, that he shouldn't be a starting Premier League keeper. As time goes on, it's more and more obvious that he's not.

He gets support in the ground, which is all you can ask for.

The problem is, a goalkeeper is a pretty important decision. They may only be involved in the game a handful of times, and when they are, it tends to be important moments.

So while people can blame the defence and midfield and say "he wouldn't be in that position if they did there jobs" the point is, that it's his job to make those important decisions when they do slip up. It's fine if it happens once or twice, but it's been a consistent part of the last 14 months that he's making the wrong decisions. Look at West Ham, he had nothing to do for most of the first 45 minutes. The first he shouted for the ball then nearly didn't go for it, and then when the defence were too high up the pitch he made the wrong decision and gave away the goal.

Chelsea hadn't had a proper effort when we played them, a cross came in and he couldn't decide whether to come or go, which put doubt in Danns mind which cost a goal.

The defence should be doing better at times, but we've done ok at times but penalised for the slightest error, where occasionally, Hennesey could rescue us.

He's paid a decent whack of money to make those key decisions, and at the moment he gets them wrong more than he gets them right.

The alternative is so bad that Wayne had to play with pain killing injections

Never mind, Steve the great will be back next match
