In a way there are only ever two options - are they lying or not. If they are then is just a case if whether it is provable or just from their behaviour. Realising this turned the game from frustrating to excellent for me. I still get the occasional question wrong but probably a 90% success rate which is fine.

I'm pretty crap at this too.... currently on the young film star case so fairly early days (or is it? based on what I am reading I might have covered quite a lot already?)
So when you think they are being evasive but might not be 'guilty' of anything but might know more than they are letting on, you hit them with Doubt? Use lie when you have hard evidence to prove something, and Truth when they are 100% truthful and telling everything they know? |

I think it is fair to say that the notion of truth can be very misleading in this game. A lot of the time, the "truth" is relevant only in that the person you are interrogating has answered the question directly, but has further info that needs coaxing - i.e. That they have no personal interest in holding back. I would say that not one question you ask is answered in it's entirety by anyone - it is just a case of whether the additional information is being held back deliberately or not. More often than not it is deliberate, and then it's just a case of proving it (lie) or in the absence of proof, intimidation (doubt).
One of the things I like most about the game is that the use of "doubt" is often reliant on you considering the whole context of each individual's role in the case as you see it at the time of your interrogation. You will not get 100% of questions right on the majority of cases unless you cheat.

Let's be honest - you can probably get it right in this game with a better success rate that any real detective. The difference being is in the real world you can keep asking the same question over and over from countless different angles until you get the tells your looking for.
I was disappointed with the ending in a way, the story had promise but finished a bit suddenly in a way that let it down for me. Plus I assumed in a GTA sort of way I could finish the game and continue to do street crimes, cars and reels but nope.

you can (kind of) - if you go into the Cases menu you can select a free-roam option for any of the desks you've worked (or replay a case to 5-star it)

Had a funny bit playing last night. Just finished doing something with my notebook in the car and came back to a car smashing into me and flying over the back of my car. My partner decided to yell at me and Phelps said something along the lines of "If you need instructions on how to wipe your ass, you let me know".
Was a definite flashback to GTA.

There's a (dead) character called Eddie McGoldrick. Awesome.

Just got this on rental.
Liking it so far, just completed the traffic desk. And I recognised the actress that played Mrs Bishop, which pleased me.

I got bored of it in the end and stopped on disc 2. I will come back to it at some point. I'm playing RAGE at the moment.

Finished this last week. I started it initially when it came out, but my old PS3 broke and got a new one and only started the game again about two weeks ago. Having a lot of free time recently, I powered through it in 2 weeks and, on friday, I completed after a marathon 4 hour session. Great game, but was a little disappointed in the ending.
Would have like another one, but that obviously is never going to happen!

I loved it. Not sure if it has any reply value, though it's been long enough now I think I've forgotten it all!
