Think he will eventually get his ideas across.
The next 3 games are horrendous, but maybe its best to get them out of the way.
We need to keep in touch with the bottom 3, and we can't judge Roy until Christmas.
It's going to be painfull, but let's see what happens if he can get the players playing his way.

I'm sure there will be a rally at some point, but it's going to be too late and another summer disaster by Parish will be too late to overcome. You can only self inflict yourself blundering disasters so many times. We are Sunderland this year. Thank you Steve.

The only positive things about the next three games are that we will be forced to play the counter-attacking football that suits us best and there is absolutely no expectation/pressure on us to get a result. Even nicking a point from one of these games would be something to build on.

Our only hope is that there are 3 other teams who are struggling too....obviously we are currently the worst, but if we can stay in touch and Roy manages to get the players doing it his way, then we have some hope.
It's pretty fkin appaling though.

Parish has f** Jed up big time, but I'm glad FDB has gone.
Our only hope now is the players buy into what Roy will be demanding of them, not sulking or talking to the chairman.
IF we can somehow be in touching distance at Christmas, a few signings in the next window will be vital.
I was expecting certain relegation with FDB, but I feel strangely lifted by the appointment of Roy, hopefully the players react .

Whatever Roys qualities or deficiences, the likelihood is that he will stick with certain players because a) they've been there a long time or b) we haven't got much alternative.

So guys like Puncheon and Ward will not get shifted out of the team anytime soon, and we're stuck with Hennessey because Speroni isn't seen as being any better. That last one that make me wonder why he was given a contract extension two years running.

The other problem is we have only one established striker, so Benteke has no one to either challenge him or even provide a two pronged attack. So at the moment it's shades of the latter days of Andy Johnson, opposition sides just had to crowd Benteke out in the same way that AJ was marked out of the game and that is job done.

Alarmingly we've spent a sh#t load of money in Left Backs and to be honest, we're not really sure who is the best option even when Soaure is match fit, none of them seem to want to mark the winger, I like Schlupp but yesterday it was embarrassing how often Tadic was found with the ball often from long cross field balls. I used to play as a FB as a kid, and it used to be the case in those days that you didn't let the guy on your wing get the ball, and if he did you didn't let him turn...but in recent years at Palace it seems we let the guy get the ball and then try to stop the cross or wait for a second player to help make the tackle.

Our last hope seems to be that when Zaha comes back he'll make the difference, but we saw that in the winter/spring of 2016 Zaha was carrying the side and we still couldn't get the points.

We're basically f#cked, the January window is tooooo far away to be able to make up for the sh#tty summer window. Our only long term hope is to prepare for the championship now by playing some of the younger players occassionally, at least you feel there is some energy. People like Wan-Bissaka looked good in Hong Kong, if TFM is staying at CB I want to see W-B replace Ward. Likewise get Jairo in mdifield along side Lukas and RLC. Lets be prepared to get Loliko, Lumeka and Kai-Kai onto the pitch more often.

Can I see Roy being creative...no

Has Roy got enough options to get us firing goals in again...no

That's incredible. You would take arry who quit QPR knowing he was taking them down, took Southampton down, had a big part in the goings on at Pompey but you don't want Hodgson. His biggest crime was limping out of a tournament against a team we should have been able to beat. Every England manager fails

It's probably just as well we've got these tough games coming up now really. We can't afford to waste any more games that we should be winning while he gets the plan across to the players.

To be honest, in the position we are in and how long we have been in this funk, we need to prioritise recovery. Building the mental attributes of the players, improving our performances, getting clean sheets etc. Essentially, getting back to basics. If the improvement comes but not enough to avoid the drop then so be it.

We need to cure this malaise otherwise it will sink the club. Had the relationship with FdB and Parish not broken down then I think we could have had a longer term manager as he had ideas about how to overhaul the playing style etc.

For me at least, avoiding relegation is priority #2 after breaking this longstanding malaise. Of course achieving #2 requires that anyway.

Credit to Roy. Inherited a mess and has taken a sensible approach given the lack of quality/depth in our squad. So much work to do still but at least there's a sign of improvement.
