League of Ireland 2018
League of Ireland returned on Friday night. New ten team leagues, with teams playing each other four times in a season.
Great start by Bohs against Rovers in the Dublin Derby. Bohs usually start slow so wasn't expecting much, but what a win. Cork, after their incredible President's Cup come back, got off to a win against St Pats, who I think could be outsiders for a European position this year. Think the whole league will be quite open. Maybe three or four challenging come September/October time. #GreatestLeagueInTheWorld |

After the Presidents Cup my Dundalk mate has labelled me a jinx and I am not allowed to follow their games.

That game was insane. Blizzards, bright sun, and 6 goals all down one end!

Ridiculous match. Wish I was covering that one, and not the 0-0 with Rovers last Friday.

Fingers crossed that Galway United bounce back at the first attempt.

Think they will. All the others in that league are awful.

With the mighty Dundalks hard fought win against Cork last night it looks like the Lillywhites have their championship back.

Must say I called it a bit wrong with Galway bouncing back. UCD champions. Be interesting to know if there are any other educational institutions in the top division of their country's league. |

Dundalk survived a late scare last night against Derry in the end won comfortably. Title all but sealed now. |

l'm hoping that Waterford can catch Shamrock Rovers, nick third place, and scrape into the Europa league. Also, the Blues ultras changed their name a couple of years ago to The Block E Boys!!
Following on from the club announcement yesterday re the HF, Block E is obviously the place to be. |

Well, they finally did it! A very dull game with Dundalk missing a host of chances throughout. Think the nerves were with them, and they were concentrating too much on the game in Tallaght, as I heard several of them asking the crowd for score updates. Thought they are about to win the league with a loss, which would have been incredibly anticlimactic, until 30 seconds from time, who pops up, the 'Hobanator'!
Bumped into a couple of Palace fans that I had met before up there, as they saw my hat. |
