When's the home match with Wimbledon ? That will be worth seeing; what sort of crowd do think there would be for it ?

Time will tell, but I've got a good feeling about this season, in spells we've played some really good stuff, and we have been winning games without getting into top gear.

Who knows what will happen when we are 2-0 away from home and Goldberg needs to rally the troops. From what i've seen already suggests we will certainly be up and around the playoffs at the end of the year.

Although Tonbridge lost, I thought they looked a fair side and had no luck in front of goal. Stianes also looked useful and ran out 2-0 winners and a decent forward might see them put their poor start behind them (inclusing a 2-1 defeat to Bromley)

Point being, both sides look better than what I have seen of Bromley, which leads me to think the early form may just be a flash in the pan.
Early doors I know, but I did notice that all bar one of the teams Bromley have played so far are in the lower half of the league.

'tis true though the draw away at Chelmsford was a top result especially as many had them as favourites.

Looking forward to my trip to Hayes Lane tomorrow, watching from the terrace behind the goal, with beer in hand, swapping ends with the away fans at half time, real football. Happy days.

Saturday at Hayes Lane - The new bar and kitchen will be open from 12.30pm today. A good selection of hot food will be available and the Merseyside derby will be shown in High Definition (kick off is at 12.45pm).

Have a beer and watch AJ bag a hat-trick against the Reds. Then watch Bromley continue their fine run of form. Happy days.

My first visit today was rewarded with a 5-1 victory. Entertaining stuff once you got used to the difference in pace. Bromley's first was scored by none other than Simon Osborn, making his debut - a good goal, too, as he picked up the ball from a shortish corner on the edge of the area and curled his shot into the far top corner. He was then booked and in the second half, after what looked like a final warning from the ref for a bad challenge, was substituted.

Also playing as a sub was Nathan Simpson, who I believe was a Palace junior a few years ago - no doubt someone can confirm/correct that.

The programme also said that Gareth Williams had left the club and was now training with Weymouth.

Anyone know what the next league "up" is?

And do they have any special ground requirements, i.e. seats or capacity?

Bromley 5 Ashford Town (Middx) 1 – League - 09/09/06

A re-jigged Bromley side with two debutants went top of the Ryman League Premier Division on Saturday after a comfortable win over Ashford Town Middlesex.

With Lloyd Blackman and Simon Osborne (yes that one!) going straight into the starting line up Bromley had a different look to them, but they continued to play the same stylish football which has impressed so many at Hayes Lane so far this season, after a spell of Ashford pressure at the start of the game which saw Donal O’Sullivan injured The Ravens got into gear and were 1-0 up on 8mins.

A sort corner to Osborn saw the former Palace star curl the ball into the top corner of the net from the edge of the box. From the restart Bromley continued to press Nic McDonnell headed just wide and Keeper Tony Wells made a good save at the second attempt from last seasons top scorer soon after. On 15mins he was beaten again though and it was the other debutant Blackman who found the net this time, volleying home from a Junior Kadi free kick. Ashford’s Scott Todd forced two good saves out of Andy Walker, before Bromley suffered a blow when Tutu Henriques had to go of injured.

Mark Goldberg changed the formation to 4-4-2 and this allowed Sam Wood to really get down the left wing and terrorize the visitor’s defence. Wood combined well with Blackman to set up McDonnell, but his shot was saved by Wells. The third goal came on 33misn when Mark Corneille brought the ball up field from right back and cut into the box before being brought down for a penalty. Sierra Leone International Junior Kadi made no mistake from the spot and found the bottom left hand corner.

Wood was denied by Wells after another great run and McDonnell saw his effort from the corner cleared off the line by Darren Deegan as The Ravens went for more. The half finished with Todd blazing a free kick over for Ashford and Bromley looking very comfortable.

The second half saw The Ravens having to replace injured O’Sullivan and switch Lee Fieldwick to centre back. This possibly contributed to the lapse in concentration that lead to Ashford pulling a goal back on 50mins when Jason Chewins volleyed home from close range. Ashford had their best spell of the game but Bromley held out and then calmed any nerves by making it 4-1 on 55mins. McDonnell showed great strength on the edge of the box before taking a touch and coolly finishing past Wells.

Walker made a fine save from the impressive Chewins before The Ravens completed the scoring on 67mins. Wood mesmerized three defenders with his magic before being crudely brought down by Russell Canderton for another penalty. On this occasion Kadi put the ball in the other corner and it was 5-1. Kadi then had to limp off leaving Bromley, who had made all three substitutions with only ten men for a while and even when he did come back on he had to limp around up front letting Blackman drop into midfield.

Wood, McDonnell and Blackman twice went close to increasing the score line, the game finished with Bromley doing enough to take first place in the league, but hoping that Henriques, O’Sullivan and Kadi were not too badly injured.

Quote for the game, ‘ I don’t know how to deal with optimism!’ – Garvo.

Bromley: Walker, Corneille, Wood, O’Sullivan, Duku, Henriques, Adeniyi, Kadi, Osborne, McDonnell, Blackman. Subs: Simpson, Fieldwick, Watts, Greenway, Stone.

Attendance: 512

Just watched the highlights (What a great service BTW). Looked pretty entertaining. Nice goal from Simon Osborne, and some good flowing football all around.

I was trying to figure out how the heck Bromley (or any team at this level for that matter) survive, or make ends meet.

A nice little crowd of 500 would bring in about 3500 pounds tops by calculation, yet they have to pay players probably 100+ a week, and I’m sure people like Gareth Williams (how has moved on) and Simon Osborne a good wack more even at this stage. Some of these other players in the team probably have there pick of the non-league arena, and are only at Bromley because of the contract they have been offered. There are stewards, bar staff, et al just like any public facility putting on an event, they may only get a tenner or so, but it all adds up. The new bar facility must have cost a few bob, although I could see it could be a money maker in the long term though private functions, but that would take years to payback.

Maybe Dolke and Goldberg have dug into their collective pockets…. I’ve always maintained that Goldberg should have taken over Bromley 10 years ago, when he had millions and foolishly tried to go big time with Palace. He would have got a lot more bang for his buck!

It was my first visit to Hayes Lane this season and I have to say I was very impressed. Not only did the look team play very well, and Bromley had some of their better players missing. The new bar & small extension to the main stand are excellent. I also noted that they are building some new all weather five a side astro pitches, at the back.

Good luck to Goldberg & Dolke and what ever happens this season at least they look like they are trying their best and the fans can see something for their money, unlike Palace. I will certainly be making many more visits to Hayes Lane this season.

I stood behind Bromley's dug out In the 2nd half saturday and too be honest It looks like Murray Jones Is pulling all the strings..........If I'd had 750,000 to pump Into the club I exspect I could have had my name down as manager and got a place In the dugout
